Whether it is Sommerset, New Richmond, Hudson, Elmbrook or hundreds of other school districts across the state, you could close your eyes and would not be able to distinguish the rhetoric of one school district to the other. On goes the drumbeat, “we give students a quality education”; “parents are satisfied with our quality education”; “we need to take a survey which will only cost taxpayers a mere $20,000″; “we need new buildings to give students room to learn” and so on. Have you ever noticed the one question they are all afraid to put on their over-priced surveys, which relates to space and quality education? Here is what you won”t see: would you support a local tax credit which would enable all parents the freedom to choose which school best meets the needs of their children. To all you school boards and Superintendents, I double-dog dare you to include that question on your next survey.

Excellent point Dr. Spirit. It was kind of like the meeting the other night in New Richmond. Let’s see now, we know you want a school or two, just how many do you want and how much can we suck out of you? Like the sales that says- “Do you want 2 or 3 suits today?” As a good friend of mine once said, It’s Bull as in Bull, Sh.t as in Sh.t.

The Elmbrook School Board hired a professional survey to learn that the voters preferred to remodel and expand their existing schools before building new schools. Does anyone know if the Hudson School Board has considered remodeling or expansion of the existing schools? Seems like it would make a lot of sense.

Pavil, before you get excited about remodeling or expansion, please visit my recent post- The Spending Parable

It would seem to make sense wouldn’t it Pavil. ATS&R wouldn’t make as much money if we simply added on or remodeled so they actually said it would cost more to add on than build new. Yup, they really said that.
