Sorry Luke by your topic says “Education” and, since they pulled the plug on the other discussion I was having, I thought I might added a few points.
1. Adim: #9 does not provide me with a breakdown of the education costs, e.g, education, facility, transportation. It’s a top line number divided by the number of student in the district. If you have this listed on ontheborderline, please point me to it and I will go on from there.
2. I’m not trying to win an argument on public v. private education. I’m trying to get the facts straight and understand the details.
Obviously, as usual, with most discussions I’ve participated in, we get to a point where the details are reqauired to have and intelligent debate on the subject on hand and, for some reason, the plug gets pulled on me. Of course, you get the last word in.
I wonder why this is? What are you afraid of here? Are you afraid that the numbers might not be as far part as ontheborderline believes? The shotgun approach seems to be the preferred way for ontheborderline. It’s when we break open the shells and start to analyze the pellets that seems to make you turn tail and run.
Since your minds are already made up on the subject, why don’t you quit allowing posts calling for comments? Maybe the deal is done for you boys, by my mind isn’t totally made up either way. I see important points being made on many sides of the issue. If you can stand the heat, stay away from the flames of reason.
mustard boy, the problem here is that this is old ground that has been exhaustively covered by many ontheborderline over the course of several years. You are simply running into a group that is extremely knowledgeable, and has a short rope on disinformation….
.
Your top line number is low – the district published at the annual meeting $52.9 million, so your number is obviously leaving something out.. Next, where did you get 4800 students? That has never been published to my knowledge anywhere.
.
Lastly, your little research project has turned up what most of us out here already knew – Ms Wyeth was being totally disengenous by using old numbers in response to Mr. Frase in the paper. OR, she is ignorant. Imagine that, a board member ignorant or purposefully misleading citizens…
.
Go about your number crunching as you will but just remember many out here ontheborderline have been intensely focused on this district, its finances, and it decisions for several years.
