Might this also be the death of any potential referendum hopes of nearby school districts? Oh, sure they will try as they only have to win once where the taxpayers have to win every time. But the next referendum(s) will go down with a blaze.
Till the real estate market settles, 3-5 years, and student enrollment into the new Catholic High School is factored in, it would be foolish to bring on a referendum anywhere near it.
In New Richmond, the April 2005 referendum failed by 22 votes. Since then the perfect storm has evolved: higher property taxes, increased bankruptcies, a spike in gas prices, and now a possible Catholic High School.
