All the talk about the Hudson School District buying the dog track or now receiving an offer for 65 acres of land at the Hudson Golf Course for free as part of a donation misses one important point. Meg Heaton, a parroting stooge for the Hudson government schools, blared in an article how enrollment in the district grew by 35 students. Commenting on the article, Matt Robinson wrote the following:

1.	Matt Robinson said: On October 30, 2011 at 1:28 AM
54 students home schooled? We need more home school money and capacity

Matt the solution to the mythical capacity issues at the government schools is providing the incentive for parents to seek alternatives to teachers walking out on their students, bloated administration, and nonsense like Freshman Year Initiative , Food and Fashion, or Everyday Math to name a few.

Currently within the boundaries of the Hudson School District the parents of 691 students bite an education penalty of paying for their children’s education at a private school or homeschool while at the same time being forced to pay the taxes to support the government schools they do not trust. Imagine how much excess capacity the Hudson Government Schools would have if the education penalty was removed. How many parents would pull their kids from the government union controlled classrooms if they could receive a tax credit for tuition paid to a private school that would apply even to homeschoolers? The slogan for the school district would need to be changed to read “Too Much Space for Learning”.

Another comment on the same article and a letter to the editor in the paper this week present an interesting riddle.

1.	Kari said: On October 27, 2011 at 2:36 PM
Riddle me this: the enrollment at the middle school was 1,241 last year, which was +116 over capacity. Then they added on. How does a school board approve a $2 million renovation that doesn’t even increase the capacity of the building?

Curt in a letter to the editor points out the same rube:

Then we have the latest major expenditure at the middle school. Did we, as lowly taxpayers, have any word on this expense? Of course not! It was decided by the school board that since they already had $1 million of taxpayer money previously confiscated and they could borrow another $1 million without our approval, then there was no need to involve us peons. And what did we get? A $2 million renovation that added little if any instructional space.

Why didn’t Meg Heaton bring this fact to the reader’s attention? Perhaps the motto of the school districts needs to be changed again to read “Space not for Learning”.

The only thing needed is a free market for education that allow parents to educate their children as they see fit without bearing a financial penalty for doing so. When the water is flowing out of the pool you can either build a new pool or let some water out. It is time to let students freely leave the government education cesspool.

Regarding my post on the ACT scores turned in by students in our area government schools, a few more thoughts crossed my mind. As I mentioned, the results from Somerset and St. Croix Central bordered on the line of moronic. Both of the school districts had an average ACT score around 21 with roughly two-thirds of the seniors taking the exam.

No doubt the teachers in Somerset and St Croix Central participated in some form of protests over the Walker Bill. The ACT scores from their students, which have shown to be pretty consistent over the last 15 years, give testimony to the absolute incompetence of the teaching staff at all grade levels.

Considering the number looking for teaching positions, I have to wonder why the whole lot in Somerset and St. Croix Central are not fired. Or why the sheep for parents have not taken to the streets calling for an end to this educational embarrassment and demanding release from this system through educational tax credits or vouchers.

Just imagine what average scores would look like if every senior had to participate. The following six states require every senior to take the ACT exam: Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Tennessee and Wyoming (Mississippi had a 96% participation rate and Louisiana had 98%). The average score ranged for these states from 19 to 21.

And you still think government needs to be involved in education?

The local shills for government education, Meg Heaton of the Hudson Star-Observer and New Richmond News reporter Jackie Grumish, once again missed the story behind the ACT scores reported by the local school districts. The story out of New Richmond even boasted how their average test scores bested every other district in the county.

Students in New Richmond had an average test score of 23.8, which was a full point higher than last year. Hudson students came in second with an average of 23.7 and the River Falls average was 23. Scores from St, Croix Central and Somerset came in with a moron like averages of 21.5 and 21 respectively.

The New Richmond scores caused New Richmond Curriculum Director Jess Ferguson to crow about what she termed awesome results. Perhaps intentionally, everyone is missing the percentage of seniors taking the ACT at our local high schools and how they fare against the top districts in the state.

The number of students taking the ACT in New Richmond equaled 58.4% of the senior class. Hudson on the other hand had 70% participation and 77% of the seniors in River Falls took the exam. One can only speculate what the scores in New Richmond would look like if a higher percentage of the senior class had taken the exam. But this should give no comfort to the parents and taxpayers in Hudson and River Falls about the quality of their schools.

Whitefish Bay High School north of Milwaukee and a similar size to New Richmond turned in an average score of 26.6% and a participation rate of 88.4%. Over the last 15 years the lowest score was 24 and the minimal percentage taking the test was 78.4%.

Elmbrook High School students turned in average score of 25.2 with 87% of the seniors participating, a rate that has steadily risen over the last 15 years.

Rounding out are sample is the Arrowwhead School District that showed 83% of the senior class turning in ACT scores with an average result of 24.8.

It is obvious that our local government institutions of learning not only lag behind the top districts in scores, but come up dreadfully short in the percentage of the senior class taking the ACT. The real question behind the local test score stories is: How low would the scores be if Jethro Bodine and Ellie Mae had decided join the ones that did take it?

Naught goes into naught, naught.

Once again the Hudson Star-Observer and the Hudson Patch failed to report on the real story contained within a news article. As reported by these two outlets for government propaganda, the Hudson School Board voted to abandon their long standing relationship with the WEAC insurance trust and contract with other carriers for district employee health and dental insurance. The cost savings to Hudson School District taxpayers is estimated to be one million dollars annually.

If Meg Heaton of the Star-Observer cared to peruse the paper’s archives, then she would have discovered letters to the editor by some that write for this blog detailing such a proposal almost a decade ago. The real story here is how the taxpayers of the district have been bilked out of tens of millions over the years.

The other part of the big story is how past and present members of the school board abdicated their fiduciary responsibilities to the taxpayers of the school district. None was more complacent in this rape and pillage than 18 year sitting member and union thug patsy Dan Tjornehoj. How can a person of any morals allow this theft to go on for so long and not utter one word of outrage? If Dan had one vertebra in his cowardly spine, then he would publicly apologize for his role in this grand theft and then resign never to be heard from again.

The other past and present members of the school board are also culpable in this heist. Perhaps one of them can ask forgiveness of their sins. Meg Heaton has demonstrated time after time her inability to reason or like others involved, she is a just a stupid stooge for the union thugs.

In the coming days make sure to give Dan Tjornehoj, past members of the school board, and Meg Heaton a call to thank them for allowing a bunch of thugs to rape you.

So this is what civility is about? Remember when Shelly Moore rented the bandshell and announced her candidacy? Did you see teaparty people ranting and raving, being disrespectful and shouting obscenities?

Where were the Hudson police yesterday? Why didn’t they arrest these people for disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace or inciting violence? Maybe it’s because the police thugs are on the same team as the other government union thugs who showed up yesterday.

What a pathetic display from the Shelly Moore supporters. Sure can’t let anyone have their right to free speech now can we? Is this what Shelly teaches her children to do? And to think these are the same people teaching our children about “anti-bullying”. How ironic!

Remember earlier this year when the teacher unión thugs walked out of school to hole up in the state capitol to protest the Walker Budget Repair Bill. Their rationale for the illegal strike was for the kids, of course.

This week showed a completely different scene. Large protests were expected in Madison as the Legislature finalized the budget. An array of non-worker, workers and general bums erected a tent city near the Capitol. The protestors had planned to encircle the grounds of the statehouse with a giant human chain.

Several months ago the same location was littered with tens of thousands of non-worker, workers that could have formed several chains. A few days ago, however, the numbers had comparatively diminished so great that a chain could not be completed even while standing within close proximity to the Capitol building.

Remember also when throngs of non-worker, workers and their bussed in buddies from out of state congregated for group chanting in Hudson. Today, the Moore union thugs were to meet in town. The protestors’ numbers almost could not field a football team.

What happened to the masses that arrogantly walked out off the job for the kids? What changed over the last few months? Apparently teachers are only dedicated protestors when it is on the student’s time. After all it is summer vacation and protesting would mean sacrificing their personal leisure time. Now I call that dedication.

When dealing with the Hudson Government School Board and administration, the adage seems to be never stop with one stupid idea. I think it was about five years ago when the school district started a course called Freshman Year Initiative or FYI or as I call it Effin –up Youth Indefinitely. The purpose of this waste of time can only be found in the brain of a school counselor that dreams up problems for which there is no problem. `

I am sure these counselors are the same ones that thought up the semi-annual nonsense of adults greeting students in the hallways of our supposedly overcrowded schools. Like any kid is going to be inspired to do better because some want to feel better about myself and get my picture in the paper adult shakes their hands as they come to school.

Convinced that the first two ideas succeeded in getting C- student’s names added to the five pages in the newspaper honor roll announcements, the school district this week announced the third installment of the you gotta be frickin’ kidding me trilogy. The Advisory as they call it compliments FYI, it need s to be insulted like only C- student in counseling could think of something this stupid. It is supposed to help students make the transition from Middle School to High School and from High School to College. What are the new college entrants going to do? Show up at a freshman kegger with Second Choice Two Names. I am sure that will get you laid.

This is Scary

Can’t you imagine the first transition discussion? Now for the boys, it is okay to be a little nervous when first using a urinal that is a little higher than you are used to. For everyone, the secret to getting good grades and having your name in the paper is to take plenty of food and baby-sitting classes plus Spanish from Mr. Ellingson.

They talk about how these sessions will help create friendships and ties for life. No doubt because the kids will be too scared to leave Hudson let alone transition from daylight to darkness. We are truly nurturing a generation of wussies that cannot go to the bathroom by themselves unless accompanied by a couple of counselors including one for grief.

When I was in school the administration consisted of two men, a Principal and a Vice-Principal. The enrollment was over 2200. We had two counselors, again men. We had a little different spin on Freshman Year Initiative. Every Friday the 13th, the upper classmen hazed the Freshmen either by making them carry books to class (no backpacks in those days), get their lunch in the cafeteria, or stuffing the little creeps into a locker. Also the cafeteria had a special glassed off section reserved for the seniors. The menu offered more variety and the space was less crowded. When a little creep would accidentally wander in to the senior cafeteria the sliding glass doors would slam shut and the entertainment would begin.

Teachers were respected. They did not come to school to be your buddy. One day a guy passed by one of my favorite teachers in the hall and gave a big wave followed by the greeting, “Hello Harry”. Before the kid finished the last syllable, Mr. Jenkins had him by the collar and slammed against the lockers. Now that is what I call a transition. One moment your feet are on the ground and the next you’re airborne. Mr. Jenkins made it clear that he and any other teacher was to be called Miss, Ma’am, Mister, or sir and their last name.

Taking fluff courses earned you a reputation as either being stupid or Special Ed. I wonder how we managed to survive it all without adults cluttering the hallways with their hands sticking out or special classes to help get us in touch with our inner feelings. We also managed to adjust to big people bathrooms just fine.

According to a recent WEAC newsletter, Scott Ellingson is a candidate for alternate NEA Director in the state. I would speculate that his organization of the illegal walkout by the teachers on February 18th was merely a resume builder for higher aspirations. So while some teachers face a heavy penalty for following Mr. Ellingson’s lead, Scott’s income may not suffer a bit with a new position within the teaching thug union. In the words of Lee Harvey Oswald, the teachers served as Ellingson’s patsies.

Scott writes in the newsletter “I have never been prouder to be a union member as I am now. …The relationships and networks that I am building now at the local, Uniserv, and state levels will only strengthen my ability to lead. Proven leadership, proven courage-that is what I will bring to the table as your next alternate NEA Director. Thank you for giving me the honor to help lead our organization in these critical times.”

Notice first that Ellingson says not one word about education or for the kids. Secondly his proven courage to lead was done on the wallets of fellow teachers that he led off the cliff. I have no sympathy for a group of educrat lemmings that show no ability to think for themselves. But Scott elevated his personal well-being by giving them a push. The teachers in Hudson need to think seriously about this; who benefited from your walkout.

Parent also need to get a clue. Your teachers did not walk out to better education. In reality they were duped into it by a person that does not care one iota about education. Are these the dimwits you want educationg your children.

And you still believe it is for the kids? Suckers.

Let me get this straight…Is it really possible that some students will have up to three weeks of substitute(s) because their regular teacher is being disciplined? How does the administration expect to make up the lost time for those students? Are the students just out of luck? If the teachers are suspended without pay, who will be developing the lesson plans and preparing for the sub?
I have one more question. If school was closed because the district was unable to find enough substitutes to cover for the absent teachers, what makes them think they’ll be able to find enough subs (for the same teachers) once they’re suspended?
I just wish they could discipline their staff without negatively impacting the education of their students.o

The answer is quite simple really, don’t suspend them all at the same time, that way you can spread out the number of substitutes you need at any one time. I guess we stopped teaching critical thinking in the classrooms

If any doubt existed whether the walkout by Hudson teachers on February 18th was a spontaneous spasm of illegality, then a teacher that goes by the blog name of One Guy puts any speculation to rest.

The following is a quote from One Guy (an admitted government union teaching thug) taken from the Hudson Star Observer online chat about the penalties meted out to striking teachers:

	One Guy said: On April 15, 2011 at 3:00 PM
John,

Yes, I am a teacher. And in the meeting Scott Ellingson held with us on the afternoon of the 17th it was made quite clear that the Union was asking us to go to Madison to protest against Scott Walker’s tactics and the content of the budget repair bill.
The teachers had no axe to grind with the District. Those who called in sick did so to go protest in Madison against the legislation.
I do not know how many actually went to Madison. I do know that at least 8 people confirmed to me that they had gone to Madison.

According to sources in Madison, we know middle school teacher and protesting goon Michael Yell camped out at the state capital that week.

One now has to wonder where Scott Ellingson held the meeting on February 17th. Did the teachers launch their plot on taxpayer government school grounds. If they did conspire to commit an illegal act on school grounds, then does this raise another potential problem for the union and their pack of lemmings.

Pehaps Scott needed a shot of courage to hatch his plan by having a few drinks with the rest of the henchmen at Ellies where they hand teaching goons free drinks.

The bottom line is that One Guy has confirmed that the illegal walkout was premeditated. An act that deserves a far greater penalty than a three week suspension.
