If the democrats pass this incredibly irrational piece of shit know as the health care bill, it should be the lighting of the proverbial fuse that results in an amazing sequence of events. There are turning points and hinges in history, this is without a doubt a profound one.

I for one plan on losing some people that heretofore I considered “friends.” I will be asking people who they voted for, and if they supported this nightmare. If they answer Obama and/or Yes. That’s it, its FUCK YOU ASSHOLE and Good bye. I am getting a very strong sense of what it must have felt like to live in the south just prior to the start of the war for southern independence..

Folks, this is the time when all honest men and women need to stand up and start judging. Forget all that bullshit about thou shalt not judge! If you don’t judge your neighbors and your elected representatives on this, then shame on you! You will be part of the sinking of this formerly great county damn it!

It is Time to use the N-Word

After the United States Senate passed its version of nationalized healthcare, Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky warned Democrats that they would catch an earful from constituents. Several neighbors have already sent scorching emails to Senators Feingold and Kohl and Representative Ron Kind.

The correspondences berated these Wisconsin representatives for their yes vote on several fronts ranging from the havoc government run health care will bring to medical care, the cost, and the Constitutionality of it all. These arguments were well vocalized at town hall meetings during the congressional summer recess and tea party rallies. Even recent opinion polls have reflected distaste for government-run healthcare by a vast majority of respondents. Despite all of this, the Democrats turned their backs and voted aye.

No reason exists to believe that votes will be switched before the final conference bill comes to the respective floors of Congress just because representatives receive an additional load of outraged public sentiment. It is obvious the Senators and House members who support the legislation do not care about opinions, economic logic, or the Constitution they swore to uphold and defends (to be fair, the Republicans have not shown any adherence to the Constitution either).

Some believe the wrath of 2010 elections will bring a dramatic realignment in Congress and the possibility that health care legislation in part or whole will be rescinded; unfortunately, the numbers damper such wishful thinking. Republicans plus any moderate Democrats will need to control two-thirds of the seats in both houses of Congress in order to override a certain Presidential veto. The odds of this happening are about the same as an individual hitting Powerball.

But not all is lost and the country does not need to blindly follow the path of Washington D.C. Letters need to be written and emails sent to state representatives urging one of two actions. Article I, Section 8, Clause 1 states,

all Duties, Imports, and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States

The special treatment exempting Nebraska from future Medicare tax increases in order to garner the vote of Senator Ben Nelson is one of the more egregious usurpations of the Constitution ever witnessed. The state of Wisconsin and the other 48 states must bear the costs of federal law for the Cornhusker state. Our elected officials in Madison should not stand idle while the citizens of Wisconsin shoulder the burden for the special exemption of another state. For me and my neighbors, emails need to bombard the in boxes of Kitty Rhoades in the State Assembly and Shelia Harsdorf in the Senate demanding that they protect the people of Wisconsin from this legislation. The state legislature needs to file suit with the US Supreme Court and ask that the healthcare bill with its Nebraska exemption be declared unconstitutional.

In the Kentucky and Virginia Resolves, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison argued that the Constitution was a compact among the states. The federal government had no rights to exercise power not specifically granted to it by the Constitution (enumerated powers). When Washington D.C. assumed powers not granted, states would be the final arbiter as to the Constitutionality of such acts and could render them void.

The Tenth Amendment states that those rights not specifically granted to Congress shall remain the rights of the states and individuals. If Congress wishes to attain more power than Article V of the Constitution (method for amending) provides a process for additional rights to the federal government. The 16th Amendment, which allowed for the establishment of an Income Tax, is a perfect illustration of the amending process where Congress gained power not originally given to it. If Congress wants the authority to bailout corporations, provide farm subsidies, control the climate, or provide health care, then they must ask the states permission to do so (two-thirds of the states must approve for an amendment to be ratified).

For too long state governments have remained mute while the federal government has eroded state and individual rights. State legislatures by their silence have become agents of Congress and national bureaucracies.

The good news is that some states have found their constitutional voices for nullification whereby federal laws are declared void. Montana and Tennessee have already passed laws in direct defiance of federal gun laws. A host of other states that include Texas, Utah, Florida, Missouri and Michigan are also considering similar legislation.

Thirteen states have some type of medical marijuana laws in direct contradiction to national legislation. Over the past two years twenty-five states have passed resolutions or laws that refuse to implement the Real ID Act. Even though the law is on the federal books, actions by the states for all practical purposes have kept it from being enforced.

In response to possible healthcare legislation, Arizona has a ballot proposition in 2010, which if passed, will override any federal law requiring individuals or corporations to participate in any Congressional mandated health system. Seven additional states (Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Missouri, Virginia, and Georgia) are in some stage of the nullification process.

The question for 2010 is who echoes the voices of Wisconsin citizens. Who will protect our natural rights and hold the federal government to the limitations of the Constitution. Not to diminish the importance of national elections, but the resurrection our republic begins at home. It is our state representatives that need to receive an earful about national healthcare, gun laws and every intrusion by Congress outside of it Constitutional boundaries.

It is time for them to hear from the people!

I think so.. As much as I detest the Christian News Channel, aka FoxNews (btw, I detest CNN, MSNBC, and CNBC more) they do occasionally have some excellent guest appearances. One such appearance recently was John Mackey. Oh, the scum bags tag on this one is in reference to some of the members of the audience, and a couple of the clips of protesters, and, especially, the final segment where Stossel brings in another guy (didn’t get his name but is clearly an unapologetic socialist)..

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, who’s hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his bid to be our president.

The old rancher said, ‘Well, ya know, Obama is a ‘Post Turtle”.

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a ‘post turtle’ was.

The old rancher said, ‘When youre driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a ‘post turtle’.

The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor’s face so he continued to explain. ‘You know he didn’t get up there by himself, he doesn’t belong up there, and he doesn’t know what to do while he’s up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there to begin with’

Kudos to my neighbors Stan & Mary Wekkin for organizing a Tea Party rally in North Hudson next Wednesday. The rally is set to take place at Mudds & Sudds from 4-6 p.m.

“This is our opportunity to remind the government that they work for us; we pay their salaries.” said Stan Wekkin

“Many of us have learned the hard way that debt catches up to you. When will our elected officials understand that?” asked Mary Wekkin

All area residents are invited to participate. The Wekkins have stated that this is a non-partisan event and if you are inclined to bring a sign please respect their wishes and make the sign non-partisan reflecting your feelings about taxes, spending and debt.

Future Tea Party rallies are being scheduled for Independence Day, Labor Day and Election Day.

This is INCREDIBLE stuff on its face, even more incredible is the fact that there is no national outrage over this! Where are the people’s representatives? Call your congressman, call your Senator, Call you freekin mother! All you pin heads who were screaming about AIG executives getting bonus money after bailout funds were distributed need to wake up! That whole menagerie was just that – smoke and mirrors.

I was at a dinner last night (3/31/09) in Washington, D.C.. sitting next to me was a banker who was the Chair and CEO of one of the ten largest banking holding companies in the United States. They have $250 billion in assets, no bad debt of which they are aware, did not engage in credit default swaps, they have no sub-prime mortgages, and they dont need any government assistance.

He informed me that the FDIC and The Treasury came to him and said if you dont issue a special class of stock just for us, which we can borrow, we will audit you publicly it will cost you millions in employee time and bad publicity and in lost business. Thats your choice.

Isnt that extortion?

This successful banker begged the federal government to let him run his bank. Begged his board of directors to let him tell the FDIC to go take a hike.

The board caved, they issued a special class of stock, Hank Paulson bought the special class of stock (2% of the company’s stock). That was September

When James Thompson, a University of Wisconsin scientist, successfully isolated and cultivated stems cells obtained from human embryos in 1998, the science community had reached new heights. The drive for new medical discoveries and breakthroughs in the world has always been significant. This new discovery opened doors to worlds of opportunity. In the excitement many people did not realize the consequences of using the embryos for research. In the process of creating new cures for diseases the human embryos are destroyed. George W. Bush once said at a gathering, Each of these children was adopted while still an embryo, and has been blessed with the chance to grow up in a loving family. These boys and girls are not spare parts. They remind us of what is lost when embryos are destroyed in the name of research. They remind us that we all began as a small collection of cells. And they remind us that in our zeal for new treatments and cures, America must never abandon our fundamental morals (Parks 36, 37). He said this while facing a crowd of families whose children had developed from embryos stored in fertilization houses. The world cannot throw those morals away and must remember how sacred human life is. The field of human embryonic stem cell research has great potential, but it arouses conflicts that are unethical and immoral making alternative options more sensible.

The origin of human life is an embryo. To create an embryo an egg divides repeatedly. The stem cells used in research that are extracted from the human embryos formed are called totipotent cells. These totipotent cells are part of a group of cells found inside the embryo known as the inner cell mass. Totipotent cells are undifferentiated cells that can be converted into nearly any type of cell in the body (Update: stem-cell research2). The human embryo is only a sack of cells; in fact this sack of cells is where life begins.

The process in which human embryonic stem cells go through is both unique and precise. The stem cells are isolated in a laboratory when the inner cell mass is around three to five days old. While isolating the cells are added to a culture dish containing a nutrient medium and coated with mouse cells that provide a sticky surface to which stem cells adhere(Kalumuck n.pag.). After being isolated the cells are used to study how undifferentiated stem cells differentiate into specialized cell types. Many of these cells become contaminated and are furthermore useless to the cause. Isolation of embryonic stem cells is a process that must be done exactly right; it is detailed and gruesome.

The history of embryonic stem cell research is quite intriguing and it shows how much of an impact a topic as controversial as this has on society. Researchers started out with mouse embryos, which they isolated in 1981. Once they had successfully done that they tried human embryos. It was not until 1998 that the goal of isolating human embryos was accomplished. After this was achieved researchers asked for federal funding. They tried passing a bill that would allow for funding of human embryonic stem cell research but the bill was vetoed by President George W. Bush. Then in 2006 Bush vetoed his previous bill allowing the use of federal funds for this medical field. This history is proof that topics such as human embryonic stem cell research cause great controversy among society.

Embryonic stem cell research has vast potential, but presently there has been minimal progress in this particular field of medical research. The hope for this research is that the stem cells will develop into tissues that can be used to repair or replace damaged tissue in the body such as heart and nerve. Also researchers would like to be able to understand the body more in depth and it is believed that this research will help, sometime in the future, to develop cures for terrible diseases including heart disease, diabetes, cancer, strokes, and arthritis. Ronald A. Lindsay, a legal director of the Center of Inquiry states, the potential of an embryo to contribute to life-saving medical therapy is far greater than its intrinsic potential to become a person, and therefore there is moral imperative to allow embryonic stem cell research(Wagner 33). So far researchers have only been able to reverse paralysis in rats and mice using embryonic stem cells. This means it has not been tested on humans and researchers are not sure it will work on them. On the other hand embryos have taken the path of forming humans over 6.7 billion times. If the potential of an embryo to contribute to medical therapy is far greater than that of its natural ability to become a person, then the results of that human embryonic stem cell research should already be far greater than that of the forming of human life from an embryo. For an embryo to take the direction of creating a human every single time in history it should seem logical to assume that the potential of the embryos taking of its natural course will always be more significant than its potential to do anything else. Say a person takes thirty embryos. They split them up so there are fifteen on each side. Fifteen are set aside to form humans while the other fifteen are used in research. The fifteen embryos left to take their natural course will most likely all become humans while it is doubtful any of those embryos set aside for research will ever create a cure. Though the potential of human embryonic stem cell research is considerable, the progress it has shown in producing cures for diseases is scant, if not none.

The effect and outcome of embryonic stem cell research is unethical and immoral. Society has certain standards that must be reached. In society human life is held in high esteem because human life is what makes up society; certainly the outcome of stem cell research does not meet these expectations. By using these embryos for research we are denying them their right to fulfill their purpose; that is to create human life. Embryos deserve the full range of rights provided to human persons and that removing from an embryo the possibility of developing the capacities and properties characteristic of human persons is morally equivalent to killing an adult human(Wagner 37). This means that America is killing human beings because of its selfish desire and want for new cures. Yes these cures could possibly save human life but it is not moral to think that if in the process of finding these cures America must kill humans to save humans; therefore almost nothing is being accomplished. George Wald, an evolutionist and Nobel laureate, states in the database called Update: stem-cell research:

DNA technology faces our society with problems unprecedented not only in the history of science, but of life on the earth. It places in human hands the capacity to redesign living organisms. It is all too big and is happening too fast. So this, the central problem, remains almost unconsidered. It presents probably the largest ethical problem that science has ever had to face. Our morality up to now has been to go ahead without restriction to learn all that we can about nature. Restructuring nature was not part of the bargain. For going ahead in this direction may be not only unwise but dangerous.(6-7)

Many conflicts are aroused in the area of religion. The bible sates that at the point of conception a human is created. It does not matter if the human is only at that time a sack of cells; a human is a human. The Instruction from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith says, Human being is to be respected and treated as a person from the moment of conception and therefore from that same moment his rights as a person must be recognized(Wagner 27). Also in other religions human life is sacred and must be treated with the utmost respect. By destroying these embryos America is going against everything that it has ever stood for, it is breaking its own laws, and it is blurring the line between what is known as right and wrong. People stand on trial for taking life from another human being and yet America is standing by and allowing human life to be taken for the use of research. What kind of morals it this teaching? When will America realize enough is enough? What sort of message is being sent to those who cherish human life and are religious? In searching for these cures by using embryos religious views, laws, and beliefs are being disregarded.

The government plays a huge role in embryonic stem cell research. It is major funding for this research. By funding the research they are sending a message to the public that they know when a human is a human and how it may be treated. They do not have the right to determine this. The creation of human life is an art; it is not a science and cannot be measured. It is a miracle and it is impossible for the government to tell when a human really is a human. The start of the development of a human being should be the start of its humanity. Many people who support human embryonic stem cell research believe that this should not be so because the human being is not fully developed; it does not have a conscience. All things must start somewhere and most things start out undeveloped. For example when a tree begins it is only a seed in the ground just like a human is only a collection of cells. As the tree is watered it grows; as does the baby inside of the mothers womb. When the tree breaks surface and begins life above ground is comparable to when a baby is born and begins its life on earth. The tree is just as much a tree when it is a seed in the ground as when it is a strong, healthy piece of wood. The fact that it is not as developed in the ground has nothing to do with its identity. This is also true with a child. Pam Fitcher who is the author of two books says, We oppose embryonic stem cell research because it destroys the embryoIt does not make any difference if its in a petri dish, implanted in the womb, or in a nursery. A human life is a human life. Are we going to say a 4-year-old is more human than a 2-year-old?(Parks 45). Obviously a 2-year-old is just as human as a 4-year-old. Letting the government make this decision for the public should not be acceptable.

Alternative options to find new cures are more sensible than human embryonic stem cell research. One alternative option is adult stem cell research. This form of research allows a person to use his or her own cells. By doing this America is avoiding killing innocent humans. Adult stem cell research has had great progress and success yet society is left in the dark when these breakthroughs happen. In fact adult stem cell research is much more promising than embryonic stem cell research; the media and researchers fail to mention this. Also America should start focusing on a way to prevent many of these diseases. Prevention would mean there would be no need for any controversial research. America should not be so willing to sacrifice human life when there is knowledge of other options. Finding ways to create new cures or prevent diseases without killing a human would be much more reasonable than human embryonic stem cell research.

Human embryonic stem cell research has noticeable potential, but the conflicts that it arouses in the fields of government and religion make things such as prevention more favorable. This research is a complicated process whose history has shown great controversy. The potential of it is great, but it has not shown much progress. Also many problems have been aroused dealing with the morality of it, religion, and governments role. The best option seems to be finding a different way to discover cures for terrible diseases. Embryonic stem cell research has opened new doors in the science community and these doors should be left unused.
