Comrade gavel… Listen and listen good…

I аm mаkіחɡ a post frοm tһе responses I һаνе seen frοm tһе O’Brien SһουƖԁ Bе Removed Frοm School Board Land Committee post. Iח particular, tο уου comrade gavel. I аm tһе חеw administrator here fοr over one month now. Yου sir, аrе nothing bυt wһаt I call a Troll. troll Comrade gavel... Listen and listen good...
Wһеrе іѕ уουr argument? Wеrе іѕ уουr compelling case? Wһаt іѕ tһе agenda οf tһіѕ blog? Yουr comment іѕ nothing more tһаח dribble, ad hominem, аחԁ a waste οf space οח tһіѕ blog.

I saw a copy οf tһаt letter аחԁ іt іѕ plain tο see tһаt Montello, Obrien аחԁ Swanda don’t want people tο read tһе blog here. Iѕ іt bесаυѕе tһеrе іѕ now competition fοr tһе written word? Iѕ іt bесаυѕе people аrе now criticizing wһаt һаѕ bееח tһе status quo fοr tοο many years now? Iѕ іt bесаυѕе tһеу аrе іח favor οf continuing tһе dysfunction οf tһе school district οf уουr city. Wһο gives jobs tο more people tһаח anyone іח Nеw Richmond? Tһе school district? If уου ѕау іt іѕ fοr tһе children, уου аrе a lier. It іѕ аbουt power, jobs, аחԁ self interest.

Dο уου know tһаt 65% οf tһе Nеw Richmond School District funding coming frοm outside οf tһе district? Dο уου know tһаt anyone frοm outside οf tһе district саח come tο observe аחу open public meeting? Dο уου agree wіtһ tһаt? Arе уου חοt fοr open meetings? Iѕ tһеrе something уου know wе don’t? Arе average citizens stupid? Tο bе afraid οf people frοm outside οf уουr city іѕ tһе οחƖу thing tһаt іѕ stupid.

Tһаt letter іѕ a perfect example οf tһе crowd іח Nеw Richmond tһаt used tο rυח tһе School Board, tһе Long Range PƖаחחіחɡ Commission аחԁ tһе Yes Group NR. Tһеу һаνе bееח trying tο force tһеіr costly political agenda onto tһе people οf уουr city. Tһеу regularly manipulate tһе process аחԁ abuse tһе public trust fοr tһеіr οwח purposes. Tһеу ԁο tһіѕ bу thinking tһеу аrе smarter tһаח tһе average person οf уουr city аחԁ tһаt חο one wіƖƖ know wһаt tһеу аrе really up tο. Aחԁ now bесаυѕе tһеу lost power, tһеу аrе acting Ɩіkе ƖіttƖе children аחԁ аrе trying tο dig up dirt аחԁ іf tһеу саח′t find аחу, аrе mаkіחɡ іt up. I know οחƖу tο well, wһаt happens tο groups Ɩіkе tһеѕе.

I wіƖƖ give уου credit fοr one thing. Yου ԁο recognize tһаt tһіѕ іѕ a philosophical battle tһаt manifests itself through politics. Nеw Richmond іѕ חοt аח isolated city wһеrе tһіѕ debate іѕ happening. Look аt tһе links іח tһе School Cһοісе section tο tһе rіɡһt. Tһеrе аrе millions аחԁ millions wһο аrе sick οf giving tһе government money fοr jobs programs іח tһе form οf schools. Tһеу аrе now demanding accountability, transparency, аחԁ results. I suggest tο уου gavel, read more аחԁ tһеח mаkе a ԁесіѕіοח οח wһісһ side οf tһіѕ battle уου want tο stand. I stand wіtһ tһе people. Tһеrе іѕ revolution іח tһе air.

Hold it right there Mikhail. You said, “That letter is a perfect example of the crowd in New Richmond that used to run the School Board, the Long Range Planning Commission [LRPC] and the Yes Group NR.”

I wrote a minority report and was given ample time to read it at a School Board meeting. I considered myself ‘an army of one.’ I noted that the whole process of analyzing the facility needs was flawed. Also I recommended going to year-round elementary schools to preclude building another elementary school. I have since modified my position and feel building another elementary school north of the current East school. Call it North Elementary School or being creative, Rush Limbaugh Elementary School. Motto: In search of excellence and the true. All bets might be off pending student population results in October.

Don’t lump me in with ‘the crowd.’

  2. gavel says:

Obviously, Mikhail’s comment is based on his opinion. Jack Bauer’s call for the removal of Tim O’Brien from the land committee is just another cheap shot example of the way Bauer works on this blog. His or her call has nothing to do with qualifications. It has to do with hate, pure and simple. The four people mentioned in the report: Bill, Connie, Mary and Wanda have all been names vigorously kicked around as to possible Jack Bauer’s. Obviously, if the nail isn’t getting hit on the head, it’s pretty close. Maybe too close for comfort for JB.

The likes of Bauer and company should be glad to have you bloggers help them smear good citizens of the New Richmond school district. You bring a forum that allows them to express their hatred for people who have little or nothing to do with what’s happened in the New Richmond school district in the past. As someone told me recently — someone who has been publicly slander on this blog — Brennan’s group is a gang fueled by the power of hate and hate can be a very potent motivator.

I doubt that more than a handful of Brennan’s gang actually swallows your philosophy hook, line and sinker. However, they don’t might jumping on your trash truck and littering the New Richmond school district with a mix of their hate and your philosophical ideas. I’m sure you can get some synergy from their sickness.

Concerning your definition for “troll,” is that aimed at me or Jack Bauer? It seems to fit him better. But then again, maybe calling me a “troll” is another way for you to deflect legitimate challenges to what you allow to be posted on this blog.

  3. Mikhail says:

good citizens of the New Richmond school district

Good for what? Spending taxpayer money?

These people are probably nice. They are no more hated than they hate members of this blog. They get up every morning, put on clothes, and make some money for the family. It is their actions that are deplorable. People do not like the concept of having someone reach into their wallets by decisions made in privacy or not based on objective facts. That is what this Yes Group NR is advocating for.

Slander is illegal, none of that here. Sure there might some mis-characterizing of some ideas and people, but your a man right? You can take it. This is politics afterall.

    These are facts not opinions:
    1. Montello, Obrien and Swanda don’t want people to read the blog here.
2.School District is one of largest employers in New Richmond.
    3. Yes Group NR are trying force their costly political agenda onto the people of your city.
    4. 65% of the New Richmond School District funding comes from outside of the district.
    5. There are millions and millions who are sick of giving the government money for jobs programs in the form of schools.
    6. People are demanding accountability, transparency, and results.

These facts are not opinion. I have yet to see a legitimate challenge from you. You see comrade gavel, It is hard to argue for something that is morally indefensible. That is that government has a monopoly on education.

  4. Chris says:

Well put Mikhail, “They are no more hated than they hate members of this blog.” Has anyone noticed that when the facts can’t be argued, it then degrades to a vitriolic and emotional diatribe of how people’s feelings are hurt? So people are then called ‘hate filled’. I’ll tell you what I hate. I hate when some bureaucrats have the power to reach into my wallet time after time and want more and more. What happens when I am criticized? I might grumble for a few minutes at most and that’s it. The ex-status quo educrats up in New Richmond don’t seem to fare as well. They are consumed and literally obsessed with any type of criticism. They have and will continue to do anything at any cost. Because the reality of it all and Mikhail hit it on the head, is that it is about power, jobs, and self interest.

I am sorry that you have been coddled so much in your life. I am sorry you don’t have life skills to deal with the reality that not everyone agrees with you. I am sorry that you don’t agree with open, honest, communication and debate, by every interested party. I am sorry Jack Bauer has uncovered some uncomfortable truths. I am sorry that Jack Bauer has raised the awareness of the public as to the inner workings of the New Richmond District.

Actually, everyone gives Jack Bauer way too much credit. Way too much. Many of the questions and concerns Jack brings up are only a catapult of concerns and ideas which then the citizens can ponder, question, and evaluate themselves. The credit you give Jack is the same dis-credit you give to the citizens. The citizens of New Richmond are not drones. They are hard working citizens who want what is best for their families. The public is much much smarter than you think. Give them the credit.

  5. gavel says:

Facts? These are the “facts” you are battling in New Richmond for?

    1. Montello, O’brien and Swanda don’t want people to read the blog here.

So what. Three people don’t want people to read this blog. As Americans, isn’t it their right to want and not want things? Just like it’s your right to do you thing — with in the limits of the law — on this blog. I personally thing they are wasting their breathe trying to get people not to read your blog. There’s important information and ideas presented here, but it’s often distracted with cheap shots, anonymous innuendo and an twisted, misinformation.

2.School District is one of largest employers in New Richmond.

This is a fact for almost an city the size of New Richmond in Wisconsin. Because of this fact, people working in administrative positions often are some of the highest paid people in the community. There are no corporate headquarters located in New Richmond, but I would guess when Doboy and Friday Canning were locally own, their executives were paid more than the school administrators.

    3. Yes Group NR are trying force their costly political agenda onto the people of your city.

I would say the Yes Group in NR is working to get a progressive education foundation established to meet the needs of a growing school district. You will find this type of group in pretty much every school district in Wisconsin. How would the Yes Group “force” their agenda on to the people of NR? Last time I checked, the decisions concerning the school district are made by three basic methods. One is through the democratic process were elected school board members vote for expenditures. A second way is through the democratic referendum process were voters in the district vote, IE, school referendums. A third way is through administrative decisions. From the Do Group and the Yes Group meetings I attended and the conversations I’ve had with members of both groups and current and former school board members, no one has mentioned any “force” being applied by any group. I did notice that Bill Brennan had a conversation with a Yes Group member’s employer. This would fall under the heading of intimidation.

    4. 65% of the New Richmond School District funding comes from outside of the district.

Ok. How much of Hudson’s come from outside? What’s the average for a school district? What’s the point of this point? So Chris Kilber and Curt Weese can justify coming up to a NR school board meeting and speak in the public forum. That doesn’t bother me. Last time I checked, this was America and I support your exercising of voicing your opinions and ideas. I might not agree with all of them, but I don’t disagree with all of them either. Come on up and hold a forum of your own. The school auditorium is available. Invite the public. Serve cookies. It’s a democracy.

    5. There are millions and millions who are sick of giving the government money for jobs programs in the form of schools.

Evidently there aren’t that many in Hudson. None of you candidates have been able to convince enough voters to elect one of your candidates. 100 million eligible voters voted in 2004 and 100 million didn’t. Evidently there’s 100 million people who think things are going so well they don’t need to miss an episode of American Idol to participate in the voting process. There are millions and millions who don’t like the idea of spending $2 billion a week to kill Iraqis so we have a cheap source of oil for our SUVs. There are millions and millions who don’t like the fact that we are spending billions on welfare programs for the rich and poor. Your beef seems to be with money spend on education.

    6. People are demanding accountability, transparency, and results.

How many people are demanding “accountability, transparency, and results?” From the usual attendance at NR school board meetings, it looks like about 35 people. There’s a few people — like you — who are anti-public education and anti-union who make a lot of noise and throw sand in the school district’s gears, but your ranks are more like a “handful” and less like “many.” Sure people will vote against raising their taxes by building new schools. They same people will tell you we have good schools and need to keep them that way.

Quite frankly, the Do and Yes Groups in NR seem to share a few of the same goals. I think they actually understand the need for additional facilities construction in the district but there confusion lies somewhere between a one-room school house or the Taj Mahal. The problem with these two groups is they are too busy shouting at each other to listen. The Do group wants to make certain people pay for the past and the Yes group wants to move beyond what can’t bee changed. Your blog likes to make fun to the saying “we doing it for the kids.” While, sometimes I think both those groups have long forgotten about the kids and have begun to focus on their individual egos and revenge.

  6. Chris says:

    1. Montello, O’brien and Swanda don’t want people to read the blog here.

Your the one who said this. Your right. So what!

2.School District is one of largest employers in New Richmond.

This has been quid pro quo for over several decades in Wisconsin, especially by districts that recieve over 60% of their funding from external sources. That would be New Richmond.

    3. Yes Group NR are trying force their costly political agenda onto the people of your city.

Your use of the word progressive is the key work here. Progresive is a key word for Socialism. See Today’s Code Word – Progressivism

    4. 65% of the New Richmond School District funding comes from outside of the district.

I was talking about New Richmond, not Hudson. So what?

    5. There are millions and millions who are sick of giving the government money for jobs programs in the form of schools.

So the defeat of the last referendums here in Hudson by a 65-35 percent don’t mean crap, right?

    6. People are demanding accountability, transparency, and results.

    Your joking, right?

Summarily, I’ve said before that there may be a legitimate reason why New Richmond might need some new facilities. Is it the 175 more kids that occupy the district compared to 10 years ago? Is it the goal of the WEAC and teachers union to create jobs? Is is the people who think we need facilities that is state of the art, including sports facilities? Don’t fool and try to underestimate the citizens of New Richmond. The goals of the Do and Yes Groups by and large only represent those that have something to gain by building your Taj Mahal district. There are alternatives that have never been given full consideration. They have not fallen in the quid pro quo for the last 10-15 years of the district.

Don’t dismiss those that don’t agree with you. They are the ones that get robbed without recourse by the district’s actions (aka unaccountable by taxpayers (transparency)). They are also the ones who think ‘Government’ run public schools could do better. Public schools also include private, parochial, and home schooling, who have always proven to do better.

One last thing. Maybe the ‘kids’ get dragged through this debate more than they should. But what has been the quid pro quo and status quo just hasn’t been able to solve the problems inherent in government run eduction. But it is for the kids! Really.
