This bill does nothing more than bring the financial implosion of the nanny state that much closer. Without it we might have made it until 2030 before the system of “entitlements” completely collapsed on itself. Now, we’ll be lucky to make it to 2020 before the collapse is imminent.
This wasn’t a $1 trillion spending bill. The Dems made sure to collect taxes for 4 years before spending the money, so it’s closer to $2 trillion, and that’s not counting the inevitable cost overruns. Obama has just added about $250 billion/year and growing to the deficit with this bill alone.
Couple the new spending with the rapidly expanding entitlement spending as the Boomers start to retire and the country is en route to default very rapidly. The only question is how long China is willing to keep financing this boondoggle so that hey can keep importing our jobs to maintain social harmony there. They could have done it for quite a while, but Obama has doubled down, and with this masterstroke he will have set the stage for massive inflation when the Chinese are no longer able to absorb all the paper we’re printing for kindling.
One clever feature, though, in all this is that because things like the individual mandate and the Medicaid expansion don’t kick in for four years it will be hard to find someone with legal standing to make a Constitutional challenge. And in the meantime Obama has captured 30 million votes — what, you don’t think amnesty isn’t next so that he can get the votes of all those illegal aliens?
