Its a Question of Judgment
ByYou aren’t going to let loose of the excess levy. Well let’s see you make it through one term of political office and not make a mistake. Let’s work on the future.

No we will not Mr. Ziller. We won’t let loose of it and the fact that as a School Board member you favored an excess levy override referendum. I thought you were a Republican? A conservative even?!
It is a question of judgment Mr. Ziller. Fool me once â?? shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
If Ron Kind or Jim Doyle proposed an excess income tax override you"d be shouting from every roof top in Wisconsin blasting them â?? and rightly so!. But when you do the same thing â?? you tell us to forget it, say is was an innocent mistake and that we should just move forward.
Not going to cut it here, sir.
The line â??let’s work on the futureâ? is just an excuse to say â?? forget about the mistakes and decisions I have made in the past â?? just trust me next time.
This is less focused at you Mr. Ziller, and more so at the crowd in New Richmond that is attempting to bring a $75 million referendum in New Richmond.
Let’s focus on the future!
Can’t we all just get along!
That was the past â?? we need to move forward!
These empty phrases mean nothing when I pay my taxes each year and brace for the continued campaign to increase them even more. And for what?
Â? Miserably low test scores at the Middle School and High School?
Â? 3 dozen bomb threats?
Â? Highest number of student expulsions in Wisconsin?
Â? More International Food Classes?
Â? Less than half of the students taking college entrance exams and far fewer attending college let alone graduating?
Â? Principals quitting as a political ploy against the citizen elected Board?
Â? Even some Board members attempting throw out the US Constitution?
The same crowd â?? those in power in New Richmond â?? as administrators in the schools, leaders of the Chamber of Commerce, at the largest law firm in town, the editor of the newspaper among others, love to say the same thing – as long as we never question them, challenge their plans or raise an objection. They’d love to move foward – with my money, your money and everyone elses.

You’re absolutely right Jack. And we still haven’t heard from Mr. Ziller as to whether or not his son was employed as a teacher at the New Richmond High School at the same time he was on the school board. I think the cat’s got his tongue.
Atta boy Jack! Keep up the pressure and get this referendum defeated. I know that only 2 people in Hudson did the same. One of them is Curt Weese. Maybe he should weigh in. As for them throwing out the constitution, get a lawyer and get a gag order for the unconstitutional policy
Well, Masked Marvel, I’d like to see some sources for all the facts you throw out. I’m not talking just about the NR stats, but the stats you are comparing them with.
As for mistakes, I’ll admit them, but as one of the head honchos at 3M used to say, “If you aren’t making mistakes, you aren’t doing anything.” Also, as you suggested once, “when you ask a question, be sure to know the answer.” How much do you learn that way?
As for the movers and shakers in NR, they can ask for anything they want if, in their mind, it improves the city and school district. I have no problem with that. Getting it is another thing.
As for stopping a referendum in town, you aren’t going to get anywhere hidding behind the blog. If a referendum moves forward in an honest and forthright manner, you’ll never stop it. The voters will decide if they can or can’t afford it, not a bunch of innuendoes and unsubstantiated facts from an anonymous source.
You will recall that I was the one who brought forth my vote on the excess levy. I’m not proud of it, but I did it. And right now I’m pushing for an elementary school (cost: $12 megabucks) to relieve the overcrowding in the ones we have. Forget the Reinhardt population study, I’m talking the here and now. Give me a reason why I shouldn’t. Remember I’m a senior citizen on a fixed income driving a 1990 Toyota Camry.
What did you say your life’s accomplishments were? Oh, and by the way, as they ask in job interviews: “What was your worst mistake and what did you do to recover from it?”
The cat has still got the tongue of Mr. Ziller. I have asked repeatedly whether or not his son was an employee at the high school when he was a member of the school board voting on teachers’ contracts and approving budgets. PLEASE Mr. Ziller, just answer the question!
Yes my son was and is a teacher in the district. I never voted on a teacher’s contract because we were fighting the early-early retirement which, if left in the contract, would have bankrupted the district. I was finance committee chairman. When I brought forward the long range projections and the affect of the early-early retirement (retirement at 55 with 25 percent pay and full medical benefits) it was kill the messenger time.
The union stalled it for three years and by that time I was off the board – voted out of course. The board did not back down and won in arbitration. The union knew damned well they would lose. That was the reason for stalling.
Any other questions?
BobZ you are to be commended for rasing a fine son who has chosen to help educate today\’s students to be tomorrow\’s citizens. I here good things about him.
One other fact that hasn\’t been mentioned in this post is that Bill Brennan\’s wife works for the school district. Bob\’s not on the board now and Bill is? Conflict of intrest?
FYI, gavel, Bill Brennan`s wife is not a regular school employee. Her salary is paid for by a grant that is applied for by a special ed. parents` group, not the taxpayers. The only time that anything to do with Mrs. Brennan`s position comes before the board is once a year, when the board approves the grant, and Bill Brennan abstains from those votes. Mrs. Brennan`s position would be gone if the group did not receive the grant. And, frankly, what do Mrs. Brennan, or Neal Ziller for that matter, have to do with any of this? Neither Bill Brennan nor Bob Ziller have done anything that remotely resembles conflict of interest in regard to their relatives in the district. I have never heard from anyone that Mrs. Brennan or Neal Ziller have been anything other than professional during all of this. They have never publicly had involvement in any of these discussions, either on the blog or in public meetings. How about leaving people that have nothing to do with these discussions out of them?
Good idea comrade. I will close. Refer to comment policy.
