Kindergarten Numbers Down in Somerset

By

A little birdie flew on my shoulder today and told me that the Kindergarten numbers are DOWN in Somerset. Remember Somerset? It’s that little town just north of Hudson and southwest of New Richmond. It’s the same town that just HAD to have some land because of all the new growth. It’s the same school board that circumvented the taxpayers in an annual meeting and purchased the land, only to be rebuked by a concerned citizen who gathered signatures to force a referendum. Of course the board went immediately to referendum for the 3RD TIME to buy the overpriced land and made a millionaire out of a local farmer.

Several questions come to mind-

1) Do you think Jed Clampett will buy the land back from the school board if enrollment continues to drop?
2) Do you think Hazel Reinhardt will give the Somerset taxpayers their money back for screwing up the projection?
3) Do you think Randy Rosburg, the superintendent of the Somerset schools, will give back any of his pension if he unnecessarily cost the taxpayers $1.5 Million?
4) Do you think Jeff Holmquist or Doug Stohlberg will run a front page article on this situation?

Oh, and one more thing. Another little birdie flew on my shoulder the other day and said that the number of children attending daycare facilities in Hudson this fall is also down. Maybe if the Hudson Star Observer had an inkling they might want to look into this as well. Or maybe not.

And you wonder why there is a need for a blog?

Not only is kindergarten enrollment down, but the at the annual budget meeting this year they gave themselves a %12.5 raise in budget for the upcoming year. I wish that my union would give me a %12.5 raise…wouldn’t that awesome to increase your income by an eigth?? And to top it all off there was a total net gain of about 8 students for the year and the mil rate “break” that they gave us last year will get erased after this season!! I seem to remember articles in the paper bragging of the “break”, and now they quickly and quietly raised it without only 10 people at the meeting no one will find out until the property tax bill comes in the mail!!! Is any way that you can call me and show me how to post for real on this thing i have even more info.

    thanks
