Liar, Liar Pants on Fire

By

My friend Roscoe’s wise mama once said that with some people you know they are lying the moment they open their mouth. I could never see how that applied to people you never met before. A better test of whether a person was telling the truth or not was devised by my uncle Clint who once told me never to forget one thing in life, “If a person goes by the title of school superintendent, then when they talk it will be a lie.”

mary Liar, Liar Pants on FireI have yet to see uncle Clint’s lie detector method fail. The latest lie in the pack by our affectionately called Second Choice Two Names is about redistricting and the new Hudson-YMCA school. During her information sessions where she bamboozled the public to vote for the new Hudson-YMCA school, SCTN, affectionately abbreviated, told the people that there was going to be minor redistricting of the kiddies when the new Hudson-YMCA school opened. This brings up another thought, what type of information can you get from a lie other than that the person giving the information is a liar. Anyway, SCTN also informed-lied that the new school would only cost $880-000 to operate. Now anyone outside of the parrot-journalist at the HSO or a drunk-driving math teacher realized this was a lot of hot air coming out of the bag, since it costs millions of dollars to operate each of the other schools in the district. Just like a bond salesman, the lie was covered up by informing-lying people that the move into the new school would be done over time.

Well it looks like old SCTN got caught with her pants down. I apologize for the absolutely disgusting image that conjures up. I shouldn’t have written that while eating dinner. Somehow the slab of meat and mashed-potatoes and gravy on my plate doesn’t look so appetizing. It seems a whole lot of parents weren’t too happy with the minor redistricting plans and showed up the other night to give the school board and SCTN some real information. The board decided to take back some of their minor redistricting so the kiddies could stay in their same schools. This made me think. If the plan to begin with called for minor redistricting and then you take back some minor redistricting, does that mean none of the kiddies have to move schools? If that is so, then why in the hell did you build a new Hudson——–YMCA school? Sorry about that, my hyphen key must be wearing out.

With all the redistricting and un-redistricting, the school district will now have to hire more teachers. This will add $230-000 of cost to the lying cost of $880-000, which means even if SCTN was telling the truth she is now made out to be a liar. Of course the part about telling the truth could never happen because as my uncle Clint would say, “she is a superintendent.”

My guess is that there are over 66 people who aren’t happy with the re-districting who voted YES in the referendum that would have voted NO had they knew. That my friends would have defeated it.
