Martha
ByAs I get up ultra early (Before 4 am.) 2-3 times a week, I turn on the news in the morning, grab a cup a joe, flip the PC on, and turn on the TV news. What do I find as the top story? There is non-stop Martha on all the channels. While I think there was some impropriates that occurred with here stock dealings, she was never charged with insider trading. She was convicted of not complying with the SEC when they were investigating her. I personally think the SEC has way too much power in this regard. The type of law that falls under the jurisdiction of the SEC does not have the same rules as civil and criminal. There are no discovery procedures available to defendants and they have more power than the IRS ever had. You do not ever want to be investigated by the SEC.
Martha was worth billions. For her to lose 51 thousand is analogous to someone who makes $100,000 a year to lose a five-dollar bill. She was just a scapegoat. Take a look at her stock performance the last 6 months. It’s tripled. She is the consummate capitalist.

I can appreciate and agree with your interest in putting a check on all too powerful an investigatory agency, I don’t think people who lie to investigators should get a pass.
This is very similar in a strange way to Watergate and Bill Clintons problems.
It’s not the crime that gets’em it’s the cover-up.
I am not sure I understand your last statement, are you saying it is NOT OK to commit a crime but if you do, lying about it to cover it up IS OK?
