Moberg Gets 3-year Paid Sabbatical, Ballard Returns?
ByRemember Mike Ballard? Neither do we. But we sort of recall someone by the same name who used to be the Principal at New Richmond Middle School. Think he actually graduated from NRHS not too long ago and was a junior varsity athlete of some negligible reknown. In 2006, Ballard quit his job in New Richmond. Something about Rick Hinz being elected to the School Board and he felt intimidated by the new Board. He took a lower paying job in River Falls.
Remember Moberg? He quit is job last year too, then made up a phony sob story about his job being too tough. He then convinced some of the teacherettes at the high school to beg him to stay and he said he’d reluctantly remain. He tried to pretend he never actually really submitted his written resignation to the Board. But it was just the written part he forgot.
How is this all connected?
Last month, the School Board voted to give Moberg a 3-year sabbatical to allegedly help with the building of the new $60 million high school. Didn’t the Board also hire an architectural firm and a construction manager? Weren’t these firms hired because of their education construction expertise and experience? What will Moberg offer that they can’t supposedly figure out? The Board has decided to give a one year sabbatical to West High School Principal Frank Norton for the building of the new elementary school for the same purposes. Guess the little kids are only one third as important as the high schoolers.
To backfill these two paid absences, the Board has decided to create a new assistant principal at the high school and a new assistant principal position at West. The new assistant principal position at the high school will be in addition to the already existing assistant principal position at the high school. There will now be two assistant Principal positions at the high school.
These sabbaticals have created a couple vacancies, and this is where Ballard comes back into the picture. Look for him to return to the New Richmond School District to fill one of these newly created assistant principal positions. Another possible scenario would be to have the existing middle school principal moved into one of the new positions opening up the middle school principal job for Ballard.
Kind of cool how all this works? Don’t worry though. We are just paying for it.
