Oh, and one more thing……….

Check out the agenda for tonight’s school board meeting- AGENDA

Not only do we still have the Citizen’s Request to Speak to the Board all the way at the bottom still, but we have something even more interesting on the agenda. There will be discussion this evening to have student representation on the school board! This is item 9A. So we make the citizens wait until the very end of the meeting to address the board, yet we are looking to put students(aka non-taxpayers) on the board!

I have a better idea- How about we put a taxpayer representative on the board, eh?

How atrocious is that! “A Student on the board”? This school district has been through hell trying to change over the board, and now they are giving it up to a student with no investment whatsoever?

Also please be careful because last time the board illegally tried to involve the taxpayers in the task force, you saw what we got. This maneuver is just another example of the idiocy that runs rampant over the people. Please, spare me!

Isn’t the school board itself technically the taxpayer committee that oversees the schools? Well, at least, isn’t that what it is supposed to be?

    1. I presume that since the student representative is not elected, that he/she will not have voting rights.

    2. How will the student rep. be chosen? Will it be like a student council election (which is nothing more than a popularity contest & usually has nothing to do with leadership abilities), and the students will vote? Or, will the teachers or administration pick whoever is most popular to them? Either way, the outcome is worthless. Now, if you picked the student that has attended the most school board meetings in the last year, at least you would have someone that knew what was going on, regardless of whether they were liberal or conservative. How many students would qualify?

I think we should do as some African countries do.You must own a piece of property before you can vote.Or…when you reach the age of majority take a test to make sure you know what the Constitution is and what it means.
