The above article is strikingly similar to what has been going on in Baraboo with an organization called “PASS” – People Acting in Support of Students (It should really be called PAST – People Acting in Support of Teachers). We have the same issue in Baraboo and the same caliber of people with “selective disclosure” of the truth about what is happening in our schools. Our group has successfully defeated two referenda (4/06 and 9/06) for the school district to exceed revenue caps by $1.5 million per year for the next five years – and nothing solid to spend the money on. They have been blank check requests from the community. We have faced numerous personal attacks in the local fishwrap (www.wiscnews.com/bnr/) and the paper was on the side favoring the referendum. Through it all, the truth came out (it’s a good thing my friends and I are thick-skinned!) and the referendums failed. We have a website (http://www.baraboocffr.com) and kept ALL communications to the media fact-related and sourceable. The other side was only loaded with hot air, personal attacks, and complaints, no solutions.
