This is a great commentary and I’ll be linking to it.
One issue that wasn’t addressed are the people who make really stupid, anti American comments. Although, it’s understandable since that wasn’t the issue being addressed.
In Ms. Hubbell’s letter, she asked, “I have to wonder why the public doesnât have the right to know his identity.” While it was very easy for me to find the right to freedom of speech, I couldn’t find a “right to know a blogger’s identity” anywhere. Despite activists in government filing everything under “commerce” a right to a blogger’s identity would even be a stretch there. Some need to remember that just because you desire something, you do not have a right to it. Wow… that’s good for much more than just the desire of some to know JB’s identity.
Attacks by the local paper confirm good reason to maintain anonymity.
