I spoke with Mr. Weese, who is currently out of town at a family member’s funeral. Mr. Weese has indicated that these are excellent questions and asks that Mr. Masini contact Doug Stohlberg at the Hudson Star-Observer to pose the questions to all candidates.

If there are questions to be answered, it is the two current incumbents who should be queried.. Given the outrageous decisions (and non-decisions) both incumbents have made I would hope Mr. Masini takes double the time with Muenich and Tjornehoj. This school board election is about them far more than it is about Mr. Weese or Mr. Baker. Certainly, Mr. Weese’s positions are important to know but the two incumbents have substantial track records of blind votes, running illegal meetings, and promoting failed and flawed ideas. Masini, I hope you perform your due dilligence in this matter.

Lastly, I think the remarks from Mr. Weese via Elizabeth McCormick are excellent. These questions should be posed to all the candidates, but alas using Mr. Stohlberg and the Hudson Star Observer is questionable – too much bias over there..unfortunately it is the only paper in town.

  4. smasini says:

dontreadonme, exactly why I was giving Mr. Weese the opportunity to answer these questions here, I haven’t met many people on this blog that trust the HSO so I was giving him the opportunity to post them here to gain votes. I know the decisions that have been made by Mr. Muenich and Mr. Tjornehoj. As well I know that Mr. Weese disapproves of the decisions that were made, which is fine. You seem to have an issue with anything I say on this blog, even when I ask simple questions of a public candidate, so dontreadonme, I apologize!

  5. ebaybabee says:

I think these are great questions for all the canidates, as well. I too think the HSO is biased and am glad that Mr. Masini brought them here. I think they need to be addressed in the paper too though…we will never get an answer from the others on this blog, I am afraid!

  6. donttreadonme says:

Ebaybabee is right, the others will not wander in here. Too much risk for them, I doubt they could hack it. I simply lament the fact that this is a one paper town and it is a bad paper (with highly questionable reporting) at that..

Secondly, Masini, If you read what I just posted above you can imply that I actually think your questions are good ones. So, for what it is worth, I obviously do not have an issue with ‘anything’ you write – that implication is just a cheap shot; moreover, you have written very little so give it some time man. You can’t expect to make up for 3 months of blogging in a week..nor gain the respect of those who have labored here with gobs of words and thoughts with just one or two shots in the dark. Now, don’t go running off the deep end here and get me wrong …. I think your perspective and comments are important and absolutely welcome. The blog needs you just as much as anyone else. It adds dimensions, which is a very good thing.

Just remember, for many of us out here it’s a battlefield of ideas and we are pretty well armed. I suspect you have plenty to say, and some of it I might actually agree with- who knows?

    Blog on man.

  7. spiritofpublicus says:

Smasini your continued participation and the questions put forth for Mr.Weese are not only a benefit to all of us who promote the foundations of free exchange of ideas and philosophy[ see the link to Thomas Sowell under the post of Exposition on Local Education] but is a testimony to the increasing quality of this blog. This is an excellent forum for not only exchange between the public and a candidate, but also the candidates themselves. This is the medium for true debate

I would like to reiterate the previous comments by donttreadonme in that we are about debating ideas. Smasini and for that matter all of us, should not take comments on a personal basis. Our replies need to be on a philosophical basis. Unlike the editorials in the HSO, particularly those of Muchlinski and Baumann, presentaion and logic is not based on character assasination.

So, Mr. Muenich and Tjornehoj and others come join the fray.

  8. Scott Masini says:

This is exactly why I posed the questions here instead of with the HSO. I have enjoyed the debate, I didn’t take anything personal, my questions are for Mr. Weese. If I were to ask Mr. Muenich questions they would be based on decisions they have made, as far as I know Mr. Weese hasn’t made any decisions for the school board yet so I want to know where he stands on these issues before I vote for him. One thing we all seem to agree on is the idea of character assasination has no place in the HSO or this blog.

  9. MaryLamb says:

Oh, Mr. Masini, if only your tone and attitude represented all teachers! Donttreadonme is right; this is a forum for ideas. What sets apart this blog from the Hudson Star-Observer–and the reason the debate is moving out of their venue–is that on this blog all ideas are welcome. We can all learn from one another. What is the HSO so afraid of??? They got in bed with the school district. No bedding on the blog!

  10. Curt Weese says:

Sorry about the delay in responding. I was out of town for a funeral. I think these are excellent questions and should be addressed by all four candidates. The HSO usually poses some questions to the candidates and the responses are put in the paper unedited. This is the best forum, since the chances of the incumbents answering questions voluntarily has proven to be difficult to attain.
Please call Doug Stohlberg at 386-9333 and see if he will use any of them. And continue to check my website http://www.curtweese.com for for information as the election draws closer.
