    and you’re proud of that?

I read Mr. Muchlinski’s letters to the editor. He seems to have a knack for driving people on this blog up the wall. My observation is that the school district issues in Hudson and in New Richmond are more about personalities and individual attacks than actually working to understand the problems and sitting down as a community to work towards future improvement. I don’t know what you people have read about our founding fathers, but there was a great deal of disagreement and debate to overcome to make this country happen. Tom Paine had a plan for pulling things down, but he didn’t have a blueprint for building things up. People tend to focus on a favorite founding father and their their case on quotes from that individual, but you need to take them together to understand where we are today and were we need to go tomorrow.

I’ve been reading David McColluch’s book on John Adams. Adams was a big believer in public schools. I could slap in quote by Adams extrolling the virutes of public education and say I’ve proven my case — but have I?

I do have to give Bob Ziller credit. He seems to stick more with the debating approach verses the attack mode.

Also, I believe I read a story in the St. Paul Sunday paper awhile back that involved blog member Curt Weese’s wife. I believe see is a nurse and most nurses I know are working for a union. Maybe she doesn’t work for a union, but the nurses have a rather powerful union. A great deal of the power comes from a shortage of nurses. Maybe, if there was an excess of teachers, the public school teacher’s union wouldn’t have the perceived power it has?

It sounds as if you are comparing Bob Muchlinski to one of our founding fathers. You are right that we are a country of passionat and, at times, contentious, political debate. Did you, by chance, read Muchlinski’s comments on-line in the HSO last week? He attacked another attorneys wife, not for her beliefs or for the purposes of debate, but to name-call and bully. This was done at a public meeting that had to be pulled because his comments were so over the top.
Muchlinski does not passionately put forth a consistent position. Instead, he waffles back and forth on whatever position packs a punch. The frustration that is developing towards Muchlinski is precisely because he is detracting from the debate when he personally attacks people to the point of slander.
Note that some of the people he attacks are parents of kids in our schools. Curt Weese’s wife, as I understand it, has a specialized job dealing with only organ transplants. I highly doubt you would find that Curt has insulted a patient in his wife’s care. Herein lies the difference: the public schools are intended to welcome all families and needs a majority of the community to support a referendum (you can’t say that about a private hospital). It is counterproductive for teachers’ spouses to name-call, bad mouth or slander parents in our community.
Lastly, it appears hypocritical (as somebody stated in the HSO) for Muchlinski to claim that he’s “for the children” when he is clearly setting such a poor example by using an attack mode instead of a debating approach. As an attorney, Muchlinski should be able to show his children that it is preferable and possible to debate without personal attacks.
I wonder how Muchlinski would feel about his children or employer viewing the tape of the meeting that was referred to in the HSO?
As Ronald Reagan would say: “Husker, I knew the founding fathers, and Bob Muchlinski is no founding father”.

    Maverick you say:

“He attacked another attorneys wife, not for her beliefs or for the purposes of debate, but to name-call and bully.” — I read somewhere the Muchilinski’s daughter was mention on this site as has been his site. I understand he used and quotes his daughter often in this debate even in the news papers. Maybe he shouldn’t involve his children.

“The frustration that is developing towards Muchlinski is precisely because he is detracting from the debate when he personally attacks people to the point of slander.” — Isn’t this what Jack Bauer is doing on this site? I forgot, there are supporting documents that support his arguments.

“It is counterproductive for teachers” spouses to name-call, bad mouth or slander parents in our community.” — Are they just supposed to sit there and take it? Isn’t M a taxpayer in Hudson? I guess he has as much right as you Maverick to say it.

This “for the children” mantra is getting rather old from both sides of the urinating contest. I readd the same thing in the New Richmond-related posts and in the local newspapers. But one side, the taxpayer is getting the shaft and the union is downright “using the children”.

I’m not sure either side truely cares about the children. I think they care about their own egos and a lot of time is wasted on dividing the community in the name of personal egotism. I really wished I believed it. Maybe private schools would be best.

Ziller seems to be unable to give his letter to the editor pen a rest, as does Muchilinski. But this blog site is on the same band wagon as Ziller and therefore what he says is righteous. Maybe the Mudslinger is going to far at times and I don’t remember Ziller attacking the way Booby does.

Both sides seem to be able to dish it out, but they can’t take it. Now we will have to see.
