  1. BobZiller says:

    N. Omimous (a.k.a. the Masked Marvels) seems to have it all figured out. I didn’t see this thing as orchestrated. This idea that every school administrator is over paid/underworked is pure envy. I have always thought that everybody is overpaid and under worked, but me.

What I see is frustration: frustration with the school board that micro-manages and questions many decisions by the administrators.

Many on our board think they have the combined IQ of all the voters who voted for them and in their upper atmosphere of board meetings think they can do no wrong. It is elitist thinking and any issue they consider is so important, that it must be taken up in executive (read secret) session.

Let’s cut to the chase. What’s going on in the New Richmond School District is pure and simple employee frustration. The problem: It’s the, “School Board–stupid.”

  2. Jack Bauer says:

    Ziller -

Could you be referring the Board Member who is a High School dropout?

  3. Sorry Ziller, you are wrong on this one. Obviously you have read the reports about the massive debt our government from the Federal level on down to our local school boards has amassed. How do you think this came about; by hold bureaucrats and educrats accountable? I don”t think so. It has happened because, to be blunt, “the inmates have been allowed to run the asylum. And now there is a board who is executing its sworn duties to watch over the public trust.

So now the employees are unhappy that they can”t spend dollars as they see fit. It isn”t frustration Bob; it is greed. Remember these government educrats do not pay a penny for their generous pensions, a mere pittance for healthcare, and enough vacation time that would classify most people as part-time. They are mad that the bank has hired a night- watchman.

  4. Tax Boy says:

Wrong Bob Z. It’s the “Power of a Public Union-stupid.” If these administrators had a prayer of obtaining a pay/benefit package that even closely resembled the one that they can garner from the Government Run Education Monopoly then why do they need a union? And you have a school board in New Richmond that actually performs their duty and asks questions of administrators and teachers? What do they think they are, servants of the public who elected them?

  5. BobZiller says:

Mark, what you’re missing is that there is a leadership vacuum on the school board and when that happens things come un-glued. I don’t have a problem with accountability, but when it’s done by inquisition, second-guessing, and gotcha actions, I draw the line.

Tell me, what are these administrators being held accountable to? There are a mish-mash of board goals that are fuzzy and ill-defined. What if your job description said only “do a good job.” With something like that you are screwed. If the boss doesn’t like what you are doing, it’s out the door. And remember, all these meetings are in executive session.

Tax Man, you’re thinking of Milwaukee. There the administrators except the superintendent are unionized. Not true in New Richmond. Here the school board could hire a principal for ten bucks an hour if they could find one. I’m sure that with the required advanced degrees they are worth more than that. In the fianl analysis, the school board negotiates salary and benefits, and agrees to them.

Also, you must be getting some inside information. How do you know the NR board is perfoming its duty? Every perfomance evaluation is done in executive session.
