Retired teacher gives $261,000 to educational foundation

John M (Jack) Reckord who died in September 2005 gave $261,000 to a New Richmond educational fund. This fund provides scholarships to students and teachers. Jack retired in 1984 from teaching business and settled in the warmer climes of Florida. He was a great guy and golfer. What more could you say?
Compare this to Wanda Erwin, who many thought was a great teacher and administrator and is now sucking money out of the district with a couple of lawsuits.

And who should be held culpable for violating her civil rights? And have you read Wanda Erwin’s will?
Jack may have been a really great guy but had his civil rights been violated in the same manner he would have sued as well. It’s a shame the board did not know who they were hiring when they hired the previous superintendent. They could have saved millions. Don’t point the blame at Wanda Erwin.
Please correct me if I’m wrong, but from what I read, Wanda Erwin wanted to retire, but someone on the school board had it in for her and fired her so that she couldn’t collect all of her retirement pay.
On that note, I find it amazing that the local school boards pay exorbitant amounts of money for other teachers and administrators to retire early, but not Wanda. It would have been much easier to let her go away quietly in retirement, then to fire her, knowing the possibility of a lawsuit.
