Archive for Citizen

A hum dinger for all my libertarian friends out there.. In this compelling talk, George H. Smith outlines the history of resistance and revolution. You’ll hear GH Smith wax regarding Locke, Smith, Jefferson, and more. Smith discusses, for example, Adam Smith’s test for the initiation of physical force against ones government: “when abuse of power becomes gross, flagrant, and palpable then armed resistance is allowable.” An example of what would constitute a gross, flagrant, and palpable abuse of power was “a tax that absorbs one-third of the people’s wealth . . . any government that would impose such a burdensome tax as one-third has obviously crossed the line into tyranny and may be forcibly overthrown.” And the reason for this 1/3 test, as discussed by GH Smith, was that the lowly feudal serf was required to turn over one-third of his produce to his overlord. This means that any citizen who is required to turn over more than one-third is actually WORSE OFF than the lowly medieval serf!

Much more in this hour of enlightenment regarding the roots of libertarian thought!

Could Happen Laws (part 2)

Posted by: | Comments (1)

The other week I wrote about the concept of “could happen” laws. My post referred to the opponents of conceal and carry gun laws because allowing a citizen to pack heat could result in someone getting shot. A number of laws today, including the ones covering drugs and prostitution, are based on the possibility that somebody could be harmed.

William Anderson posted a story about a man charged on the basis of “could happen”. One of the weapons citizens have against laws that inhibit liberty is to nullify or ignore government edicts. In the case of a trial for instance of a person charged with drug possession, a jury contrary to all evidence can vote the defendant not guilty on the basis that the law is wrong. I believe it was Jefferson that once declared people have a duty to ignore bad laws. The civil rights movement was an example of people turning their backs on “Jim Crow” laws.

Summarizing the story relayed by Anderson, a man in New York City stood outside a courthouse passing out leaflets arguing for jury nullification. Federal prosecutors had the man arrested and charged him with jury tampering even though he was not on trial or had any personal benefit in a specific court case, which is usually necessary to prove to find an individual guilty of trying to influence a juror or the jury.

It Could Happen

What is the man guilty of in the eyes of federal prosecutors? The people receiving the leaflet could happen to sit on a jury one day. The next thing you know there will be a law against team sports because the coach could happen to become a child rapist.

“Technology may be winning, but the real problem is that America has a class of government workers who believe that they are above citizen scrutiny, and who are prepared to abuse their powers to avoid that scrutiny. The only solution for this is to punish offenders severely enough that others learn their lesson.”

My humble advice is to grab the app for either your iPhone or Android device that will automatically record and deposit on the web your encounter with the jackboots out there. Just imagine how a certain Hudson School District board meeting would have played in the public eye had we had this technology only a few years ago!

Steve Dzubay on Hudson Patch

Posted by: | Comments (0)

I can’t tell you how upset I am that a new source of information has entered the Hudson area.  This Patch outfit is honing in on our advertising revenue.  This does not sit well with the powers that be.  To top it off, they get to do the same thing that we do.  They get to pit one citizen against another in vitriolic slanderous debate, posing as different people and never having to use their real names.  I find this particularly disgusting.  The editor of the Patch should be ashamed of himself, stooping as low as we do for advertising revenue.  It is sad that “journalism” has turned out to be such a worthless occupation.

Thomas Paine’s Wisdom – Redux

Posted by: | Comments (0)

When we suffer or are exposed to the same miseries by a government which we might expect in a country without government, our calamity is heightened by the reflection that we furnish the means whereby we suffer.

Thomas Paine

What Paine meant by this as it was written in Common Sense, is that when the state usurps their citizen’s liberties and freedoms they will suffer. I don’t think any of us has ever seriously suffered to the point of real misery. If there is one person who does understand and personifies the understanding of the meaning of misery, it is Paine. So then why is the abridging of our liberties and freedoms miserious?

Our society is derived by it’s wants, and government by it’s wickedness. Society is free to act accordingly through positive means whereas government uses it’s power negatively by restraining society. Government is a punisher. It governs with a stick in hand. It has gotten to the point that it is us who have allowed it, yet we continue to add to it’s vigor.

Unfortunately, the phrase as written in the Constitution by Jefferson, “and the pursuit of happiness“, has been bastardized beyond comprehension. Until we can definitively delineate where our rights and responsibilities should end and where government’s begin, we have no philosophical basis for what government should be allowed to do, and conversely, what should be out of bounds.

And that’s today’s wisdom.

Shakedown

Posted by: | Comments (1)

Police function as our agents in the protection of private property from the force and fraud of others, which includes the coercion through threats. As we have witnessed over the last several weeks, our public servants believe the rule of law including the ones pertaining to private property do not apply to them.

Copying almost verbatim the extortion email of the Baldwin-Woodville education thugs, an email signed by police, firefighters, and teachers associations threaten repercussions against businesses that do not actively support their cause against the taxpayers of the state. No doubt the police are engaged in an old fashion shakedown.

The police show themselves no nobler than a thug or gangster. For years we have questioned who the police really protect. Their approach to the average citizen has been that of a bully. This email and events at the Capital and at the Hudson House last week should lay to rest what side of the fence the police will stand.

The Police Are Not Your Friend

Left Brain, Right Brain

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Admittedly, I am not as eloquent as the towncrier. I do, however, have some observations from the Hudson School Board listening session over the matter of teachers engaging in an illegal walkout two weeks ago. Instead of speaking on the subject matter of the walkout, I decided upon entering the room to observe. I received more of an education than expected. The following is a summary of last night.

The Superintendent reported that on any given day an average of 59 teachers call out absent for a variety of reasons. With nearly 350 teachers in the district, the number of daily absences equates to almost 17% of the teaching force. No business could ever operate with that type of absentee rate. Considering the cost of hiring a substitute plus paying the regular teacher’s pay for the day, the tab to taxpayers must be significant (This will be further investigated).

The room decidedly listed toward the teachers that had held a rally before the meeting. But why let the teachers speak at all. It was their actions that caused the listening session in the first place. This was a chance for the ordinary citizen to express their opinions on the walkout. The teachers already told the public how they felt when they decided to protest instead of teaching. The question was not a matter of whether they violated the contract. By making an apology, Scott Ellingson admitted guilt in a coordinated sickout or walkout. If that point was clear, then why have the teachers speak. I believe the teachers know all too well that the throng intimidates citizens with children in the school who may face grade retribution for an outspoken parent. Teachers are government employees and therefore, in a different classification than the public. Obviously through the years the teachers, the board of education, and the administration have formed the trinity where it is difficult to see any oversight.

After listening to the comments and how the speakers approached the subject matter of the illegal teacher walkout, it donned on me that the different sides of the chasm are really from different universes. The room was literally divided between the left brain and the right. In terms of arithmetic, the logical side sees 2+2=4 or 4=2+2 or 4-2=2, which then allows other calculations such as multiplication and division.

scratch Left Brain, Right BrainThe emotional side looks at the same equation as 2+2 (depending on my emotions)=3 or 3=2+3(on a bad day) or 3-2 (when I am really stressed)=6. Not only do the laws of math change upon the situation, but more pertinent so do the laws governing contracts and human interaction, which includes economics. This is why it makes sense to Scott Ellingson when he writes in the paper about the economic stimulus that comes from you being taxed out of your wallet and into his pocket.

The parameters of the speeches were restricted to the topic of the walkout and limited for three minutes. The moderator on several occasion warned teachers and supporters about crossing the line of topic. The 2+2=5 crowd talked about the Bishop of a local church, the United Nations, quality education, and most of all the stresses they face. Teachers for some reason believe their occupation is a unique stress factory. We heard how they could not sleep, eat, or stay on task because of the oppressing stress endured over the Walker bill. The inference was clear; we walked out because our emotions could not be controlled (2+2=10). The walkout was not their fault. The Governor inflicted such emotional distress that they had no choice but to break the terms of their contract. Furthermore they do not merit consequences for the illegal walkout because they are entitled to different rules than the rest of society.

Just who is Jim B (Bob Muchlinski)?

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Welcome to the readers of the HSO website. We are going to be spending the next week letting you know just exactly who this Jim B. character is. He is none other than Bob Muchlinski, husband of government school teacher Mary Muchlinski. This week on the HSO website Mr. Muchlinski pretends to have “concern” for the Hudson taxpayers. Does he really care about his neighbors and the heavy tax burden that they face? As Bob Muchlinski and his wife benefit from higher and higher taxes, the average citizen is doing well to keep their home.

Today we will show you a video in which Bob Muchlinski lashes out at the Hudson taxpayers and admonishes them for not wanting to pay MORE in taxes. Listen closely as Mr. Muchlinski (or Jim B. as he likes to be called) talks about the “poor, poor, poor, poor, poor, poor, poor Hudson taxpayers”. Listen as Mr. Muchlinski absolutely belittles each and every one of you…..

July 2009 Hudson School Board Meeting

His speech begins at minute 201. You might have to wait a little while to download the entire video, but it is well worth the wait.

Since Jim. B. (aka Bob Muchlinski) continues to berate citizens on the Hudson Star Observer website, we will take this opportunity to expose Bob for the little twit that he is. His feigned “concern” for the taxpayers is nothing more than a sham. Bob and his family are a serious drain on the average hardworking citizen that doesn’t slurp from the public trough like he does.

In this several part series we will take a good look at how Bob Muchlinski is costing the taxpayers of Hudson a pretty penny. Look for numerous posts over the next week, because there is a lot to be said about good ole Bobby boy…….

jb Hey You All in St. Croix County... Im BackYes, It’s true. I’ve returned to educate the citizens of St. Croix County about the unconstitutional underbelly of their local government. The government types have found it their privy to spend and raise hard working citizens taxes unconstitutionally (YOURS), when there are record numbers in foreclosures, property devaluation, layoffs, and unemployment.

Did you see your last property tax bill? The government’s ever increasing confiscation of citizen’s personal property via taxation (which most even don’t understand how they occur) infringe upon the rights of citizens to do what they want with their own property, their liberty at the expense of their socialistic ideal of the common good, and their mandate to fund socialistic ideals they may not agree with at the point of cohesion (jail via the tax code), is shining bright. Many of the government ilk are even raising their own salaries with NO input from you. In fact, it won’t even be allowed to be debated. They will easily be exposed. Stay tuned… I will reveal all.
