…for what he really is, an evangelical nut-job.

The Onion writes:

” ‘I honestly thought he was just playing up to the far-right voters, because that’s what Republicans are supposed to do in the primaries,’ said Grand Rapids, MI resident Dan Banks, who explained he had dismissed as manipulative campaign rhetoric Santorum’s assertion that President Obama would send Christians to the guillotine. ‘But now it’s dawning on me that this guy means it, all of it. Every single thing he says is an accurate depiction of how he sees the world’. . . . ‘So, when he said that Satan was currently attacking the United States, he meant exactly that,’ added Banks. ‘Satan, the devil himself, is attacking the United States. Rick Santorum believes this is a real thing that is actually happening. I…wow. Just wow.’ “

Dan, now do you see why some of us refer to this crowd as evangelical nut-jobs? He is-they are-run for your life from these people!!

Now They Have Ruined Baseball

Posted by: | Comments (0)

I cannot even watch a baseball game without the sickening intrusion of irrational patriotism. The playoffs have been the only time this whole season that I have tuned in to a game. In place of Take Me Out to The Ballgame during the seventh inning stretch, the ballparks have persons in uniform singing God Bless America.

I find nothing in this country to praise, pledge, or sing about. We are no longer free. And even worse, the US government has gone from nosing into the business of others to being the hit man and executioner for the world.

The parade of patriotic nonsense taking over the seventh inning ritual reminds me of pictures from Nazi Germany where sporting victory was celebrated with long stanzas about the Fatherland. I would not be surprised if future seventh inning stretches include dimming the stadium lights and everyone in the crowd singing patriotic verses while holding lit candles.

If I ever attend a ballgame in the future, I will be the one sitting down during the National Anthem and the seventh inning stretch.

Sherlock on Occupy and Capitalism

Posted by: | Comments (1)

Some time ago I received a newsletter that stated the following as part of a defense of capitalism:

“The capitalist system is messy, imperfect, and does need constraints to enforce contracts impartially, to protect individuals, the weak from the strong and it requires the rule of law to make it work. While the rule of law is not always perfect, the rule of the central planner is subjective and is subject to more corruption. This makes it more unfair to more people.”

Clearly, the gang hanging out doing the Occupy Wall Street shuffle not only believe the above but suspect and decry far far worse of capitalism. Indeed, these folks seem to be implicitly and in most cases tacitly demanding that capitalism either be “perfect,” or utterly abandoned. This is not all too different from the sustainability crowd who argues along the same thesis, if it cannot be sustained it must be untouchable; both cases demonstrate abject moral deparvity.

sherlock holmes pipe hat 225x300 Sherlock on Occupy and CapitalismI would argue, and I believe it is no small point, that the concept of “perfection” is misplaced in any discussion of the merits of capitalism. In fact, I would take it one step further to suggest that those who have an overt anti-capitalist worldview have worked very hard to implant this notion. A notion that is almost reflexively adopted by those who contend capitalism is preferable, yet begin by conceding this point of imperfection to those who have a diametric worldview. All these defenders are left with then is an argument based upon shades of gray or degrees, and not absolutes.

Ari’s Blog re Occupy

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Via Free Colorado.com

“Considering what little the occupation crowd has made possible, compared to what the great champion of the free market Steve Jobs has made possible, I could only shake my head. As Howard Roark reminds us, “Thousands of years ago, the first man discovered how to make fire. He was probably burned at the stake he had taught his brothers to light.” The occupation forces seem eager to throw in the torch.”

Al Gore has a new colleague .. somehow seems fitting for the alarmist crowd.

‘Everyone’s God and if we don’t wake up to that there’s going to be no weather because our polar caps are melting because we’re doing bad things to the atmosphere. . . . If we don’t change that as rapidly as I’m speaking to you now, if we don’t put the green back on the planet and put the trees back that we’ve butchered, if we don’t go to war against the problem… bla, bla, bla.” ~ Charles Manson (from prison)

One wonders if Al will quote him soon. Full story here..

Not So Brave Now

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Goons act real brave when patting down a six year-old or pepper spraying a squirrel or running in gangs of six or seven. But see how brave they are when a crowd turns the tables.

In the words of “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”, Run Away!

Well, if Flashy thought a Catholic dictatorship was spooky (and it absolutely is) just consider Glenn Beck and his crowd of religious extremists that descended upon Washington, D.C. the other day…

This is a nightmare on the Potomac, and this is precisely what Sarah Palin and the rest of the Repulsivecans are up to. At the end of the day, they don’t give a rip nor understand what capitalism is, and what it requires. All they care about is instituting their evangelical Christian mythology upon the masses.

Beck and Palin, and so many of the rest of these so-called Tea Partiers, are repulsive throwbacks to exactly that which brought us Obama.

Quote of the Day

“Lord knows, all these administrators are hard workers and probably deserve more money.”

Doug Stohlberg, Editor of the Hudson Star Obfuscator

As quoted in this editorial, in reference to the UNBELIEVABLE pay increases given out to the already overpaid administrators of the Hudson School District. Is this Mr. Stohlberg’s way of appeasing the government education crowd?

Government education administrators produce NOTHING. They generate NO WEALTH. They simply STEAL FROM THEIR NEIGHBORS.

Dr. Roy Spencer writes (yesterday):

Any way you look at it, the evidence for internally-forced climate change is pretty clear. Based upon this satellite evidence alone, I do not see how the IPCC can continue to ignore internally-forced variations in the climate system. The evidence for its existence is there for all to see, and in my opinion, the IPCC’s lack of diagnostic skill in this matter verges on scientific malpractice.
