Michele Bachman-Swaggert
Posted by: | CommentsI feel like ranting, so here goes!
Congresswoman and presidential candidate Michele Bachman is the epicenter of what can only be called Let’s Elect A Nutjob! She exudes evangelical nut-jobbery, eclipsing even Governor Rick Perry (TX).
Today, to my horror, I learned first that one of my favorite webzines, The Objective Standard, has a blog piece actually praising Ms Bachman. Now, the piece has its point regarding the D.O.Ed (and clearly states it is not an endorsement of her), but please … why tout Ms Bachman? She clearly is not the only education reform minded candidate. Given her penchant for peculiar explainations of history, one could argue she displays a certain degree of intellectual bankruptcy.. OK, I am being kind. She’s a flippin fruitcake! Please, TOS, delete that blog piece! Read More→
A RINO and a Northwoods Patriot
Posted by: | CommentsSergeant Dale Schultz, RINO of Richland Center is now the next best hope for the D-rats in Wisconsin. Unfortunately, his importance may be short-lived.
Looks as if Kim Simac, the founder of the Northwoods Patriots, is someone from the outside who has organized state residents around the Tea Party movement. Kim Simac fits the bill. And she is challenging Holperin Tuesday for his Senate seat.
It would be fitting that a Tea Party Patriot would de-legitimize a RINO’s importance.
S&P’s Rating Warning: A “Catch-22″..
Posted by: | CommentsIf S&P has taken this long to issue a negative watch on The US Treasury’s ability to repay debt, what would it actually take for this rating agency to make good on its warning? This is the question no one wants to really discuss in the media. It’s as if people here in the U.S. actually think that folks all around the world don’t already see our situation for what it really is… and think they can keep it that way. Moreover, If the United States has gotten away with a AAA rating all the while incurring massive deficits, doing basically nothing to address the incredible imbalances in the government, one has to really wonder… Well, now that the S&P has finally come out of the closet on this let’s briefly explore further.
It’s pretty clear now what will happen, and we will see a package of three measures; two of which are totally and completely antithetical to everything the Tea Party supposedly ran upon (not to mention what the Republican Party ought to stand for). We already know that Paul Ryan stipulated an increase in the debt ceiling – he has no fundamental aversion to big government, notwithstanding his occasional rhetoric and appearances as a deficit hawk. If he did, he would not have already agreed to engage in the illegal/legal ceiling charade (not to mention his support for the bailouts). So, you have Ryan’s “extreme” plan on the one hand, and the Obama plan (hitting the snake oil train today) on the other with both plans not-so-tacitly assuming an increase in the debt ceiling. Everything else proceeds from here.. Read More→
PLEASE, don’t call me a conservative
Posted by: | CommentsI have to admit, I was never comfortable thinking of myself as a conservative. So, I punted the whole gang. I made an objective determination long ago (as did Lew Rockwell, who is very much admired by some out here OTBL) that the fundamental tenets of what it meant to be a “conservative” were totally antithetical to my world-view. And that view is premised upon individual rights, reason, and rationality. Bizarre and irrational notions (regardless the number of people who hold them) such as evangelical (fundamentalist) Christianity, militant pro-life activism (litmus test activism), and wink/nod support for the status quo of big government programming (provided your guy gets to do the spending) have no place in a modern, evolving, world – they belong on the scrap heap of discarded pre-enlightenment philosophy or ignored for their overt ignorance to nature and individual rights.
Well, it is pretty clear not much has changed within certain quarters of this crowd, eminent poster children for which are people like John McManus (John Birch Society) and the incredibly hypocritical talk show blow-hard, Mike Church. These Neanderthal/Dark Ages throwbacks truly are fish out of the proverbial Tea Party water; generationally and morally out of touch with the ongoing awakening in this country. Clearly, they do not represent America’s fundamental foundational concept of individual rights.
Here’s my advice, run from these kooks as fast as you can! And if you still harbor these views, honestly re-access them and simply move on..
The single-largest annual meeting of conservatives and small-government fellow travelers, the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), kicked off in Washington, D.C. today on Thursday, February 10, 2011.
The big story leading up to the conference was a high-profile boycott by outfits such as The Heritage Foundation and figures such as Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) due to the participation of GOProud, a gay conservative group that lobbies for lower taxes and equality under the law. As a spokesman for Heritage put it, “We want to promote economic freedom, a strong national defense and social conservativism. We think these policies are indivisible…It’s not a boutique. You can’t pick one and not the other.”

IOWA Tea Party Removes Sign..
Posted by: | Comments
One wonders why? This particular sign speaks to a truth that people need to contemplate.. I think it was cowardly and irrational to remove this billboard.
Rand Paul is a coward.
Posted by: | CommentsI will have more on this later, but suffice it to say, simply, that Rand Paul is a coward. He was asked point blank about the EPA and Minimum Wage laws. In both cases his incredibly evasive answers reflected cowardice and an utter lack of principle. He claims to be a defender of laissez faire – bullshit! Oh, wait, he does have principle – the principle of self-sacrifice… More on this later, but if the Tea Party Movement is represented by the likes of Rand Paul and Sarah Palin then it is an utter waste.
It is Time to use the N-Word
Posted by: | CommentsAfter the United States Senate passed its version of nationalized healthcare, Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky warned Democrats that they would catch an earful from constituents. Several neighbors have already sent scorching emails to Senators Feingold and Kohl and Representative Ron Kind.
The correspondences berated these Wisconsin representatives for their yes vote on several fronts ranging from the havoc government run health care will bring to medical care, the cost, and the Constitutionality of it all. These arguments were well vocalized at town hall meetings during the congressional summer recess and tea party rallies. Even recent opinion polls have reflected distaste for government-run healthcare by a vast majority of respondents. Despite all of this, the Democrats turned their backs and voted “aye”.
No reason exists to believe that votes will be switched before the final conference bill comes to the respective floors of Congress just because representatives receive an additional load of outraged public sentiment. It is obvious the Senators and House members who support the legislation do not care about opinions, economic logic, or the Constitution they swore to uphold and defends (to be fair, the Republicans have not shown any adherence to the Constitution either).
Some believe the wrath of 2010 elections will bring a dramatic realignment in Congress and the possibility that health care legislation in part or whole will be rescinded; unfortunately, the numbers damper such wishful thinking. Republicans plus any moderate Democrats will need to control two-thirds of the seats in both houses of Congress in order to override a certain Presidential veto. The odds of this happening are about the same as an individual hitting Powerball.
But not all is lost and the country does not need to blindly follow the path of Washington D.C. Letters need to be written and emails sent to state representatives urging one of two actions. Article I, Section 8, Clause 1 states,
…all Duties, Imports, and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States…
The special treatment exempting Nebraska from future Medicare tax increases in order to garner the vote of Senator Ben Nelson is one of the more egregious usurpations of the Constitution ever witnessed. The state of Wisconsin and the other 48 states must bear the costs of federal law for the “Cornhusker” state. Our elected officials in Madison should not stand idle while the citizens of Wisconsin shoulder the burden for the special exemption of another state. For me and my neighbors, emails need to bombard the in boxes of Kitty Rhoades in the State Assembly and Shelia Harsdorf in the Senate demanding that they protect the people of Wisconsin from this legislation. The state legislature needs to file suit with the US Supreme Court and ask that the healthcare bill with its Nebraska exemption be declared unconstitutional. Read More→
