Teachers and Doctors Duke It Out
ByThere was a very interesting letter to the editor this week in the Hudson Star Obfuscator from Marian Furlong and John Marnell. Both of these individuals are affiliated with the Hudson Hospital. They want more taxpayer money for the doctors and are angry that Doyle gave it to the teachers instead. Gee, I wonder what would happen without all of this transfer of wealth? Imagine a world where people actually had to pay for their own child’s education or the health care of their families. I would imagine that the cost of both would drop substantially. Instead we have taxation without representation in both of these areas via a “third party” payment system. Who picks up the tab? YOU AND ME, OF COURSE!
Like Junkyard Dogs, all of the people looking for government handouts are fighting over the scraps. One sentence in this letter was of particular interest- “However, her(Committee Rhoades) efforts went for naught when Gov. Doyle chose to increase support for education to the detriment of Medicaid funding.” Does this mean that the people asking for more money in health care are “anti-education”? Or does this mean that both the health care industry and public education are “anti-taxpayer”? I choose the latter.

This looks like a letter that should be published in the HSO. I hope you are
conisdering an e-mail to the editor. We can always say that we saw it first
on the border line.
Ah, that would be government education. Public education is a goal to which we all subscribe, it is composed of government run schools, private schools, home scholars, and parochial schools. I believe the government monopolized sector of public education is what you were aluding to, along with health care, as being anti-taxpayer. Speaking of anti-taxpayers, wasn’t that a catch phrase used by Arnold Fett and intended to be an epithet carrying a negative connotation???
