This is the recommendation of the New Richmond Long Range Planning Committee.

1. Build a new elementary School K-5 or K-6, $12.5 million
2. Remodel West elementary, 2.2 million
3. Purchase land, 1.0 million (my estimate)
4. Build a new high school, 50.6 million
5. Remodel high school to use as a middle school, 5.5 million

Total cost: $71.8 million
Financing: 4.5 percent for 20 years; payments $5,450,904/yr; total: $109,018,080

Votes: 15 for this recommendation, 1 against, and 1 abstention

    The $5.45 million cost per year will be 24 percent of the yearly school budget.

    And doesn’t include the additional operational expenses either, so add at least another 24% bump. I guess it’s an easy vote to spend someone else’s money.

    Bob, I don’t mean to stick my nose into New Richmond’s business, but this plan, in my opinion, is a death nail to most homeowners in your community.

    Why would someone want to sit on this Tax Farce if they are going to abstain from voting? Having said that, this vote looks very similar to the 22-1 vote that the Hudson Tax Farce had. The only difference is that the New Richmond school board will proceed because of the closeness of the last referendum. I would recommend working very hard to get as many NO votes out as possible in order to make the next vote a lopsided NO result. The 72-28% whipping that took place in Hudson in 2003 is the only reason why the Hudson school board has not proceeded with their handpicked Tax Farce’s recommendation.
