Welcome HSO Readers!

By

Welcome HSO Readers! First I want to thank Ray Kepulis of Hudson for the publicity. In a recent HSO Letter to the Editor, Ray attacked this blog for not agreeing with the status quo of the Hudson School District. He actually could have made the argument here in a post if so choosen. There is no denying that we have a ‘conservative lean’, to paraphrase Mr. Kepulis, but I would argue that the blog’s main theme is ‘Free Markets and Capitalism’. Because education is the most egregious benefactor of the anti-capitalist mindset, it is a topic that rants ‘fury’ from both sides of the debate. You can also see that debate actually exists here. Ray would rather have the HSO moderate the debate with a 200 word maximum, and only 1 question per week please! So when the title of the editorial called ‘Who do we trust when dealing with school issues?’ question is really asked, I answer, “no one”. Yes, “no one”. Read the facts. Dig into them. Do some research. Read some books on ‘Education’. You see Ray; I can’t tell you whom to trust. Only you can. You have to do the work and make an informed decision. It’s really a fundamental choice, to blindly follow, or to research the facts for yourself. My recent post called ‘My True Colors‘ frames the way we should debate the issues as well as the philosophy of this blog. This blog is the only place there debate exists in this town. There are also some excellent posts on ‘Education’ that have been posted. Here are a few:

Stop the Insanity!
An Exposition on Local Education
Not About Tea and Not About Education
How do you rate?
Public says “Time for a change”
Nobility Disrobed

Public Schooling vs. Public Education

As far as the titles of the posts, I leave that up to the posters. Some of the titles have been quite creative if you ask me. In the journalism world, they are called headlines. They are used to catch the reader’s attention. They must work as they caught yours. As a closing statement I would ask everyone to read the posts and make your own decision. If by doing that it raises questions, good. Add this site as a bookmark. If it raises your hackles, you simply have but two choice’s to make. Click to another site or register and comment.

    Admin,

A great posting! Keep up the great work and it’s certainly a treat to be able to have dialog! I guess you can have a one way conversation once a week, but I like this better.

Well it certainly was a laugher reading the admins post from above. Laughter, because it is clear from a stylistic and persuasive sense that the admin could clearly have benefitted by paying more attention to his English teacher in public high school or should have attended public schools if his writing above is representative of what private intitutions have to offer.

The admin mentions free-markets and capitalism as if they were part of a religious creed, a singular unchanging all omniscent entity. A mere glance of American history shows the faults, foibles, and triumphs of the capitalistic state. Consider Teddy Roosevelt (Republican) and the monopolies of the early 20th century, Herbert Hoover (Republican) and the great depression, the economic collapses in the 18th century, and the many other examples in this country and the world of “free markets” run amok.

I am not quite sure what “the most egregious benefactor of the anti-capitalist mindset” means , but it seems to be a general statement aimed at the perceived failures and over taxation foisted upon the admin, and those that think like him, by the public education system. Like other regressive that this admin likes to fashion himself after, there are no facts stated, just shoot the gun and ask questions later.

You state this blog may have a “conservative lean” , what a joke! You are turning somersaults in your headlong rush towards radical right extremism with a fundamentalist so-called Christian bent.

Your posts are textbook examples of “yellow-journalism”. This was a propaganda technique used by the Facists and Nazis (the far right), to quell dissent, confuse the masses for the purpose of pursuing a radical agenda. Yellow journalism disguises itself in hyberbole, marginalizes groups or institutions (Jews, public schools, etc..) and plays on the worst fears and prejudices of people. It is short on facts, uses religion to rationalize and then justify actions, and above all eviscerates in any way possible anything or anybody that does not agree—

The leading facist (regressive right wing fundamentlist) propogandist in Nazi Germany was Joseph Goebbels. You can trace old Joe’s line right to Rush Limbaugh and throught to blogs like this…..

You are a dangerous man, my admin friend…..

More to come–have a nice day!

There seems to be a common theme from the ultra-left. When the going gets tough and the facts can’t be argued, attack the messenger. Call them fascists and Nazis. Right out of the Deaniac playbooks. So I’m compared to the likes of Joseph Goebbels. A fascist promoting yellow-journalism. You must have used that argument many places and pasted it here. I can tell you did not read any of the posts. There are many facts that back up positions, so your argument will not hold water. As far as I remember, there has been only 1 post on religion on this blog. Other than that one single post, where was religion used to rationalize and then justify actions? It wasnít. Again, read the posts. Draw your own conclusions. I will leave you with one last thought. Joseph Goebbels would not have even allowed you to voice your opinion; you would have been dead long ago. Take your hate speech someplace else.

Hey, admin. Congrats are in order. To be called a Fascist by a lefty is a badge of honor.

  5. bildanielson says:

Well, it appears an ad-hominem squirt gun found its way onto the blog. Hey strad, as Val Kilmer famously uttered in Tombstone: “i’ll be your huckelberry.”

    More (much) on this later….

  6. Strad says:

bidanielson- probably couldn’t dignify comments because he has nothing intelligent to say —go ahead righty Bill —-I give ya permission–I even dare ya–

admin- tha facts are this, you and I both know that many subscribers to this blog are regressive rignt wing fundamentalist Christian home-schoolers—-are you denying this? The “facts can’t be argued”?…..what facts –I have seen tons of misinformed, ignorant opinions, but very little factual information. You are wrong about Goebbels —first the Nazis let the opposition expose theselves by thoughts, words , and actions…then they killed them …..yeah…kinda like right here

cub- probably a “scout’ for the local branch of the “posse comitatus” — posting from the group clubhouse in a WI back 40 — bad mouthing your country and worried that the Native Americans gonna take away yer walleye rights……pathetic…….

  7. Tax Boy says:

So what would be your occupation strad? Maybe you can let us know what your wife/husband does for a living as well. Come on now, fess up!

  8. Citizen Joe says:

I am thankful that I get to see such great coverage of news you won’t see on TV or see in the paper. I like the links to sources that I don’t have to look for. As for that troll, ignore him/her.
