Keep the Recommendations Secret Until After the Election?

The New Richmond Long Range Planning Commission was scheduled to complete its business on January 26. The announced and agreed to meetings were as follows:

11/15 at the District Office
11/29 at West Elementary School
12/5 at the Middle School Media Center
12/14 at the High School Media Center (cancelled to inclement weather)
1/9 at the High School Media Center
1/18 at the District Office
1/26 at the District Office ” final meeting

The Commission has decided to postpone the completion of its work indefinitely and will extend its meetings. The next meeting will be this next Tuesday from 6:30 pm ” 9:00 pm at the District Office.

Are they attempting to delay their final report until after the February 21 Primary election when Commission Member Andy Lieffort and School Board Member Deanna Cook-Shannon are on the ballot standing for election? Are they acknowledging the political liabilities associated with their proposed recommendations? And by this acknowledgement, are they withholding the results until after Primary Election day?

Will the local Judge and former School Board Member who is Chair of the Commission allow this to happen? Will the Chair allow the appearance of this manipulation to play politics by shifting the release of the recommendation until after the election? Will he allow his integrity to come into question by allowing this to happen?

Everyone knows the recommendations will include an exorbitant price tag and will stick District taxpayers with dramatic annual and permanent increases in property tax payments. Everyone knows what the recommendations will include. Why the delay?
