Writer Right On The Mark
ByThere was a very well written letter this week in the HSO by Frank Loncar. Frank, like many of us on the blog, understand that there is a bubble of larger class sizes going through our system right now. This is one of the best letters to grace the pages of the paper in quite some time. But Frank had better look out! He’ll have to duck next week as the teachers’ spouses come out swinging with the usual anti-school, anti-education, anti-children rhetoric. It wouldn’t suprise me to even see the art teacher’s husband in his glory with the sarcasm knob turned to full volume. SEE LETTER

The following was submitted as a comment to the online edition of the HHSO:
Mr. Loncar,
Your very reasoned analysis concurs with the analysis I, along with a collegue, peformed prior to the last referendum. We concluded then that building a two grade junior high on the outskirts of town was a terrible idea – so did 72% of the citizenry who bothered to vote.
Back then, we looked at birth rates, inter-grade growth, and we considered on-the-ground, socio economic factors in the greater Hudson area – something the hired demographer said she did not do, nor did the recent demographer do in any rational way.
We concluded back then, as you are now, that no new buildings are necessary in the Hudson district, that in fact there might be a bubble.
Actions should have already been taken to remove administration from the High School, but the intransigence of Dick Muenich (and others on your board) is incredible. You have an out of touch school board many of whom have chips on their shoulders – they have a great deal of explaining to do, especially the likes of Muenich.
You can now expect some wild criticism from the build anything crowd in Hudson. Look out, you are now a marked man!
