Zweifel’s Wiffles
By
In today’s editorial section of the lefty newspaper, ‘Capital Times‘, my favorite socialist, Dave Zweifel, cites an poll that was commissioned by AARP, to the seniors that live in Colorado. He did not say exactly what the questions were but only that over 1/2 expressed dissatisfaction with TABOR. See the editorial here and my response here.
I responded to Dave with the following text:
Dave, Dave, Dave..
In your counter-argument to Representative Lasee’s editorial you are basing your premise on obvious flawed and biased data. Everyone knows that by using and citing polls, one has to take the data with a grain of salt. Just as using statistics to skew outcomes or predictions to further a cause, the same thing can be true of polls, especially one from AARP. If I belonged AARP and felt strongly in their positions, I would do the same thing. I do not fault them. The majority of their members do not contribute to the tax systems at the levels they did when they were working. They are simply using their voices to sway public perception of issues that will benefit them. You are not being intellectually honest to say otherwise. I did not see the questions they asked, nor did I see the methodology they used, but I can surmise as to what it may have been. Additionally, without incorporating this data into something more comprehensively representative of the state as a whole, like age, income, quality of life, and education, it renders it almost meaningless. The truth is total taxes paid by Wisconsinites in 2003 were $53.84 billion, or 33 percent of personal income. Taxes paid by citizens have increased by double the annual inflation rate for the last 10 years. Taxpayers have to live within their means, so does Madison. TABOR does not cut taxes, it curbs government growth to the ability of the citizens to pay.
Strike ONE!

I saw the editorial and it hit my hot button. I wondered if answering it isn’t like urinating up wind as we Montanan’s say.
When I write to state-wide newspapaers I leave out the Capital Times; too liberal and too small. Glad you took a shot at them.
Great letter admin! I also have written to this lefty. You’ll get the same reply I got- NONE! He lives in the right(uh I mean left) town for his ilk. Lasee is doing a great job. I hope he makes life miserable for all the RINOS in town(our two reps included).
I went back to look and see if there were other comments, nope. I also looked at the ‘Recent editorials’ page and guess what was edited out of the list for Jan 21st? This editorial I commented on. Hmmm. I guess the editor must have edited the link! See here.
